Insurance Authorization Coordinator

• Set up process and workflow to obtain insurance prior authorizations (primary responsibility) • Receive, track, and process incoming referrals from primary care providers and partner organizations. • Process insurance authorizations for outbound referrals, including submitting documentation and managing denials or appeals. • Verify insurance and referral information to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance. • Communicate updates to referring providers and maintain clear, timely feedback loops to support continuity of care. • Schedule patient appointments with OrthoPass clinicians, ensuring alignment between provider availability and patient needs. • Manage scheduling logistics for urgent or complex cases requiring additional coordination. • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records in the EHR and referral tracking systems. • Partner closely with operations, clinical, and provider relations teams to ensure smooth handoffs and proactive issue resolution. • Identify and escalate barriers to care access or workflow bottlenecks, recommending process improvements as needed. • Support reporting and quality improvement initiatives related to referral timeliness, patient engagement, and access metrics.
Job Requirements
- 2–3 years processing insurance prior authorization referrals (REQUIRED)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable engaging patients and providers by phone and electronically.
- Strong time management and attention to detail; able to manage multiple patient cases simultaneously.
- Familiarity with EHR systems, referral management tools, and HIPAA compliance.
- Resourceful, proactive, and comfortable resolving scheduling or documentation barriers quickly.
- Patient-centered approach with a calm and compassionate demeanor.
- Background in musculoskeletal, primary care, or specialty care coordination (Preferred).

Role Description Innovative Renal Care is seeking a detail-oriented Eligibility Specialist to manage insurance processing and benefit verification for our dialysis clinics. In this fully remote role, you will serve as a critical link between patients, clinic staff, and insurance providers to ensure seamless access to care. - Perform comprehensive benefit verifications via phone or online tools to confirm patient coverage and network status specific to the rendering clinic. - Maintain 100% accuracy of patient insurance records within the billing system, proactively initiating updates as coverage changes occur. - Serve as the primary internal contact for complex insurance setups and coordination of benefits (COB), ensuring strict compliance with Medicare and CMS rules. - Partner closely with clinic staff, collections, and insurance educators to ensure timely verification and a seamless setup for all insurance changes. - Manage region- and clinic-specific reports to track new or inactive policies, preventing billing delays or lapses in life-sustaining patient coverage. - Communicate proactively with patients and clinic teams regarding the loss of insurance benefits to prevent disruptions in dialysis treatment. - Initiate authorization requests as required by specific insurance providers and clinic network status.
