Senior Accounts Payable Coordinator

• Process high-volume, complex invoices, ensuring proper approvals and coding • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies and payment issues promptly • Manage payment runs (ACH, wire, check) and ensure compliance with payment terms • Review and approve work completed by Accounts Payable Clerks/Coordinators • Assist with month-end and year-end close, including accruals and AP aging analysis • Maintain and enforce internal controls and SOX compliance (if applicable) • Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries • Lead or support AP process improvements, system upgrades, and automation initiatives • Train, mentor, and provide day-to-day guidance to junior AP team members • Process and review claim-related invoices and payment requests, including settlements, legal fees, vendor services, and indemnity payments

Job Requirements

  • Associate’s (required) or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive accounts payable experience within Insurance or Finance industries
  • Strong knowledge of AP best practices, vendor management, and internal controls
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, PivotTables)
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong preference to be in vicinity of one of our Ryan Specialty offices across the US (ie. Chicago, NYC, Melville NY, Houston, Atlanta)

Accounts Payable Specialist Washington, DC Full Time Finance Mid Level Primary Function: The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing Accounts Payable transactions, processing disbursements, managing vendor communications, preparing vendor and consultant contracts, maintaining Concur, and maintaining accurate financial records. Responsibilities: - Process all employee expense reimbursements in Concur; review for appropriate documentation and account coding; follow up with employees to resolve issues - Process invoices from vendors, contractors, and state/federal agencies; review each for appropriate documentation and management approval; detect and correct any discrepancies; enter into accounting software - Monitor Finance mailbox; respond to requests in a timely manner; direct mail incorrectly sent to Finance to the appropriate person/team; follow-up on unresolved matters until completely answered - Set up bi-weekly ACH and wire disbursements in the banking system - Process physical checks when requested by a vendor - This position is hybrid, onsite presence at our Washington, DC office is required once a week.
