MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As an Operations Manager, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Environmental Protection Agency. You will play a crucial role in overseeing a team of staff responsible for maintaining our program's stock of field equipment and supplies necessary to conduct inspections of drinking water service lines. You will ensure equipment is properly packaged and shipped to numerous locations across the country where our teams deploy to conduct field work. You will also disposition, clean, and maintain equipment when it is shipped back to our central equipment repository in Falls Church, VA. This role will involve daily communications with our team of project managers who are responsible for placing equipment orders based on the needs of field work they schedule in the communities where the work is being conducted. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ● Support inventory tracking and updates using internal inventory management systems ● Maintain an organized shipping area and ensure timely replenishment of materials ● Coordinate and process shipments using FedEx and other shipping platforms ● Assist with warehouse organization, material handling, and logistics coordination ● Support shipment logistics, including tracking, coordination, and expense documentation ● Provide administrative support, including scheduling, meeting coordination, and document preparation ● Track tasks, maintain records, and assist with preparing reports and status updates ● Coordinate logistics for team meetings and trainings ● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and support operational needs ● Identify and escalate issues related to inventory, logistics, or scheduling ● Maintain organized records and ensure data accuracy across systems Note: this position will not involve management of direct reports. However, the operations manager is expected to schedule staff to report onsite to the GDIT Falls Church office for equipment packing and warehouse maintenance. The Operations Manager is also responsible for conducting quality control of packed boxes to ensure all equipment orders are fulfilled accurately. JOB LOCATION ● Hybrid: 3 days onsite at GDIT's Falls Church location, and 2 days remote ● Candidate must live within 10 miles of the GDIT Falls Church location (3170 Fairview Park Drive, Falls Church, VA) ● Travel expectations: during the first two months, the Operations Manager will travel 50-75% to conduct field work and learn about the equipment used on our program when conducting water service line inspections. Following that time, the Operations Manager will travel 1 week each quarter to support field work. QUALIFICATIONS The Operations Manager must have: ● Education: BA/BS ● Experience: 5+ years of related experience ● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail ● Ability to oversee and direct teams to achieve daily goals and objectives ● Prior logistics, warehouse management, and purchasing experience ● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint) ● Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment ● Strong written and verbal communication skills ● Willingness to learn and grow within operations and program support functions ● US citizenship required ● No security clearance is required The likely salary range for this position is $76,500 - $103,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
