Graphic Design Intern (Spring 2026)
Middle Seat Digital
Salary: $23/hour Location: Remote or Washington, D.C. Want to break into political design? Get your start with us. Middle Seat is a full-service firm for progressive causes and candidates. We work with campaigns, nonprofits, advocacy organizations, and causes on the front lines of racial justice, climate action, privacy and tech policy, immigration rights, and economic justice. We’re looking for a creative, driven design intern to join our creative team for SPRING 2026 (March 2026 - May 2026). What does the role involve? As a graphic design intern at Middle Seat, you’ll work closely with our design team to support real campaigns and causes with impactful visuals. You’ll create social media graphics, digital ads, print collateral, branding assets, and more. You’ll be encouraged to bring your own creative voice while learning how to collaborate in a fast-paced political design environment. This role is available either in person at our Washington, D.C office or remotely. This role is not part of the bargaining unit. You’ll get experience in: - Designing graphics for email, social media, and digital ads - Applying brand guidelines to new and existing creative - Building simple animations (GIFs, video loops) and editing video clips - Assisting with print materials like flyers, proposals, and direct mail - Supporting the creative team on larger design projects including identity design and web graphics - Receiving and implementing feedback from designers, strategists, and clients - Collaborating with strategists, developers, and other creatives to deliver cross-platform assets
Job Requirements
- This role is for you if:
- You’re excited by the idea of using design to drive progressive change
- You enjoy solving visual problems and thinking creatively
- You’re comfortable using tools like Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva
- You’re detail-oriented, take feedback well, and are always looking to learn
- You’re a senior, in your last year of an undergraduate program, or a recent grad
- It would be nice if you:
- Have experience working on design for advocacy, nonprofit, or political projects
- Are familiar with Adobe After Effects or other motion design tools
- Know how to edit short videos using After Effects or Premiere Pro
- Have a working knowledge of accessibility in design
- Are interested in UX/UI or web design
- And it’s essential that you:
- Are committed to working for progressive political candidates and causes
- Are a team player
- Follow along with the news of the day, particularly an understanding of the U.S. political system as well as key progressive issues
- Can commit to full-time (40-hour work week) or near full-time availability, with consistent hours each week
- Are based in the United States

• Own and execute the visual design across all multimedia formats, including image design, presentations, marketing collateral, video content, and paid advertising creatives. • Design compelling assets that support marketing campaigns and drive performance across channels. • Collaborate closely with the marketing team to bring campaigns and initiatives to life. • Ensure all design outputs align with brand standards, values, and visual identity across every touchpoint. • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including planned pipeline work and urgent ad hoc requests. • Maintain a high standard of creative output while meeting tight and shifting deadlines. • Contribute to strengthening both external brand presence and internal visual communications.
