Role Description We are seeking a bold, market-shaping Chief Marketing Officer to define how our company is understood, experienced, and remembered within the rapidly evolving AI landscape. This is not a traditional B2B marketing leadership role. We are looking for a creative and strategic storyteller and a seasoned marketer who knows how to turn complex technical capabilities into compelling narratives, shape industry conversations, and build a brand that stands apart in a crowded and fast-moving market. The CMO will play a central role in defining that future-facing narrative by elevating our voice, positioning us as a category-defining player, and creating the stories, campaigns, and thought leadership that establish credibility and momentum. This role will partner closely with the CEO and leadership team to build marketing into a core strategic function that drives market perception, enterprise demand, and long-term growth. While this is a highly strategic executive role, it also requires a hands-on operator mindset. As a high-growth firm, we are looking for a leader who is equally comfortable shaping long-term market narratives and rolling up their sleeves to build, execute, refine, and scale the marketing function in real time. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone who desires to play a role in both the strategic vision and craft of execution. What you will do: - Own the Narrative and Shape Market Perception - Build a differentiated and emotionally resonant brand narrative that establishes the company as a category-defining leader. - Define and evolve the company’s positioning within the AI ecosystem. - Translate complex AI capabilities, technical innovation, and client impact into compelling stories that resonate with enterprise decision-makers. - Lead the creation of market-facing messaging that is clear, provocative, memorable, and commercially effective. - Drive Category Creation and Thought Leadership - Shape industry conversations around the future of AI, enterprise transformation, and emerging technology adoption. - Build a visible and influential market presence through executive thought leadership, media engagement, analyst relations, speaking opportunities, and strategic content. - Identify where the AI market is heading and position the company ahead of those shifts. - Develop “big ideas” and signature narratives that elevate awareness, credibility, and relevance at scale. - Lead Creative Strategy and Storytelling Excellence - Oversee the development of high-impact creative campaigns, brand initiatives, content strategies, and digital experiences. - Ensure every external touchpoint reflects a sophisticated, differentiated, and strategically aligned brand voice. - Bring together technical expertise, customer success stories, market insight, and cultural relevance into a cohesive and compelling narrative ecosystem. - Build marketing that people remember. - Build Marketing as a Commercial Growth Engine - Lead integrated marketing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, pipeline generation, and revenue growth. - Partner closely with sales and executive leadership to connect brand strategy with commercial outcomes. - Develop measurable marketing frameworks, KPIs, and OKRs tied to business growth and market impact. - Oversee demand generation, digital marketing, campaigns, customer acquisition strategies and sales enablement with strong accountability for performance. - Build and Inspire a High-Performing Team - Mentor and develop a world-class marketing organization with strong creative, strategic, and operational capabilities. - Foster a culture of ambition, curiosity, creativity, and excellence. - Lead cross-functional collaboration across leadership, sales, delivery, and operations teams. - Balance long-term brand building with executional discipline and business impact. - Thrive in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment where executive leaders are expected to be both strategic architects and hands-on operators. What you will bring: - Creative Leadership and Brand Storytelling - Proven experience and a portfolio that shows you’ve built distinctive brands, shaped narratives, and created marketing that cuts through crowded markets. - Exceptional storytelling instincts with the ability to turn technical or complex concepts into clear, compelling, and differentiated market narratives. - Experience developing category-defining positioning, thought leadership platforms, and “big idea” campaigns. - Strong creative judgment across messaging, content, campaigns, brand strategy, and executive communications. - Market-Shaping and Thought Leadership Experience - Demonstrated success positioning organizations as industry leaders through strategic storytelling and market influence. - Deep understanding of the AI, technology, or innovation ecosystem and the ability to anticipate where the market is heading. - Experience engaging with analysts, media, strategic partners, and executive audiences. - Comfort operating as a highly visible external representative of the business. - Executive Leadership, Operator Mindset & Professional Services Expertise - Deep understanding of consulting and professional services economics, including how to translate intellectual capital, technical expertise, and thought leadership into commercial growth and market differentiation. - Experience leading marketing within high-growth, founder-led professional services, consulting, technology, or AI organizations where brand reputation, expertise, and relationships are core drivers of growth. - Proven ability to operate as both a strategic executive and hands-on builder — shaping long-term market positioning while driving execution in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments. - Strong executive presence with experience partnering closely with CEOs, Boards, and senior leadership teams to influence company strategy, market perception, and business growth. - Demonstrated success in category positioning, and reputation-based marketing strategies that elevate credibility, creating demand, and establishing market leadership. - Revenue and Growth Marketing Expertise - Strong track record of driving measurable business growth through integrated marketing strategies. - Experience leading demand generation, digital marketing, go-to-market strategy, and enterprise pipeline development. - Ability to balance long-term brand building with near-term revenue impact and operational accountability. - Experience managing significant marketing budgets, teams, and campaigns. - Deeply curious and excited about the rapidly evolving AI-driven marketing tech stack and automation opportunities. - Team Building and Organizational Leadership - Proven experience building, mentoring, and scaling high-performing marketing teams. - Strong leadership capabilities with a demonstrated commitment to developing talent and creating a high-performance culture. - Ability to manage competing priorities and drive alignment across fast-moving organizations. Our Culture and Values: - Caring: People first, always - Inquisitive: Constant learners and teachers - Open: Diverse perspectives make us better - Inventive: Big ideas grounded in execution - Trustworthy: Trust is earned through action We also believe in using AI for Good, contributing time and expertise to pro bono and social-impact initiatives. Job Description ServiceNow is building a product led demand motion for the first time. This role owns it end-to-end. The mandate is a new product launch and a new go-to-market motion. This person owns the go-to-market for a new product launch: the community alpha programs that seed demand before broad release, the activation strategy that converts individual builders into enterprise deals, and the motion layer of the ServiceNow developer site - how developers find it, what they experience when they get there, how quickly they reach a first meaningful product experience, and how that journey connects to enterprise pipeline. Think of it this way: a companion role owns what the developer site says and who it speaks to. This role owns what happens from the moment someone walks in. This role requires someone who has built this kind of motion before at a comparable company - someone who understands how to launch a new product into a developer community, design go-to-market programs that earn trust before asking for a transaction, and connect individual product engagement to enterprise revenue. Developer marketing experience is strongly preferred. This is a senior individual contributor role with no people management responsibilities, reporting to the Vice President of Community, Developer Ecosystem and App Engine. Responsibilities - Own the go-to-market strategy and execution for a new product launch: lead the motion from community alpha through broad release, including the early access programs that validate product-market fit, build practitioner trust, and seed demand before launch - Own the motion layer of the ServiceNow developer site: define the acquisition and activation strategy that determines how developers find the site, what they experience on arrival, how quickly they reach a first meaningful product experience, and how that journey connects to enterprise pipeline - in partnership with the product and engineering team that owns the underlying infrastructure - Define the activation and onboarding content strategy that reduces time to first value: own the messaging and content that moves builders from initial discovery to a meaningful product experience as quickly as possible - Build the signal framework that connects individual product engagement to enterprise go-to-market: define the behavioral triggers that indicate high intent, instrument them with product and revenue operations, and architect the handoff to customer-facing teams - Own pricing and packaging go-to-market strategy for new product experiences in partnership with product management: develop the approach that earns builder trust and creates a natural path from individual use to enterprise adoption - Lead community and early access program strategy: design and run the programs that put new products in front of the right practitioners early, gather the feedback that shapes go-to-market decisions, and build the community relationships that accelerate adoption at launch - Develop and own the measurement framework for the product led demand motion: define the key results from developer awareness through activation to enterprise expansion, and communicate progress to senior stakeholders - Lead go-to-market readiness for product led demand launches: coordinate messaging, content, and execution across product, marketing, sales, and customer success - Stay current on how product led demand motions are evolving across enterprise software: bring an informed external perspective that continuously raises the bar Qualifications To be successful in this role you have: - Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry. - 7 or more years of product marketing or growth marketing experience, with at least 3 years owning a product led demand go-to-market motion for a new product at an enterprise software company - Demonstrated experience taking a new product from early access through adoption and into enterprise conversion: you must have operated this motion directly, not advised on it - Developer marketing experience strongly preferred: candidates who have marketed to technical audiences will ramp faster and have significantly more impact in this role - Experience owning the acquisition and activation motion for a developer-facing site or technical destination: you understand what makes a developer portal an effective entry point, not just a content library - Experience leading community-driven early access programs, including cohort design, practitioner engagement, and pricing and positioning validation before broad release - Experience partnering with product management to define and execute the go-to-market strategy for a developer-facing activation funnel - Deep understanding of the product led demand model: how individual developer adoption scales to team and enterprise purchasing - Experience defining behavioral signals, working with product and revenue operations to instrument them, and building the handoff motion to sales - Strong cross-functional operating experience across product, marketing, sales, and customer success - Exceptional written and verbal communication across positioning documents, product narratives, and executive communications - This is a senior individual contributor role with no direct reports - Bachelor's degree required; Master of Business Administration or equivalent experience preferred - 10-15% travel JV19 For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $173,200 - $303,100, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
