Role Description The Tooling Method & Design Main Project Engineer will join the Tooling team within the Engineering department, responsible for technical studies and design of tools for transportation and erection of main pieces of equipment constituting a hydropower plant. - Define methods for handling, transport, and support of Turbine and Generator components. - Collect information from site, COEs, and project team to design tools for erection and maintenance operations. - Perform design and calculation notes for tooling following a structured design process. - Focus on project execution for awarded projects in North America, with a focus on design validation (US stamp mandatory). Qualifications - Bachelor degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent knowledge or experience. - Significant experience (>5 years) in mechanical design - US stamp mandatory. - Experience in design of lifting equipment and access platforms or significant experience on site. - Good knowledge of CAD and calculation. - Excellent written & verbal English skills for international communications. - Proven ability to work with cross-functional and global teams. - Strong interpersonal skills, proven leadership skills, and a positive energy. Requirements - Collect information from site / Project Engineering Manager / logistics / Center of Excellence to prepare the synopsis and lashing drawings. - Imagine erection and maintenance operations according to procedures with a focus on standard tools and EHS rules. - Perform calculations and design tools according to CoE’s Design Practices with validation from the tooling principal engineer. - Represent the Tooling Center of Excellence in front of the Project Team. - Coordinate within the Tooling CoE for the calculation and design of tools identified during the synopsis phase. - Design specific tools (3D, calculation notes, fabrication drawings, instruction manuals). - Identify the need for access on machines and specific packing requirements. - Prepare lifting drawings and stamp tooling designs as needed for North American projects. - Push the synopsis BOM in the GE product life management system. - Participate in the design of tools or pieces to implement tooling requirements. - Act as the entry point for site team support requests. - Coordinate synopsis tasks with subcontractors or technicians. - Identify market standard tools.
