HR Systems Specialist
Symetra
Role Description This role sits at the intersection of HR and technology, focused on the systems and tools that power the employee experience. You’ll be responsible for administering and enhancing multiple HR systems, ensuring they are running efficiently, effectively, and in ways that make it easier for employees and HR teams to get what they need. You’ll also play a key role in leveraging data and reporting to support decision-making, while partnering across HR, IT, and the business to continuously improve our systems and processes. What you will do - Provide system administration and technical support across multiple HR systems - Support employees, candidates, and HR users by troubleshooting issues and resolving system-related questions - Identify patterns and trends in issues, proactively recommending enhancements to improve system performance and user experience - Participate in the review, testing, and implementation of system enhancements, updates, and new releases - Partner with Sr. HR Systems Specialist and Sr. HR Business Analyst roles to evaluate system capabilities and determine effective, scalable solutions - Collaborate with HR, IT, and external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve system issues - Generate, analyze, and deliver standard, custom, and ad-hoc reports across systems - Build and maintain clear user documentation and system guidelines - Manage and maintain system security across HR platforms - Ensure data integrity by running audits, queries, and analysis across systems - Stay current on trends and emerging capabilities in HR technology - Support HR projects and contribute to the implementation of new tools, enhancements, and process improvements Qualifications - High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred - 2+ years of experience in Human Resources with prior HRIS and/or Talent systems administration experience required - PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP preferred - Prior systems implementation experience - Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and familiarity with emerging AI tools strongly preferred - Solid understanding of core HR business practices - Proficiency in MS Office: intermediate-advanced skills in Excel (complex formulas, pivots and graphs) - Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret data and draw conclusions - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to train others and present data in a clear, approachable way - High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple priorities - Adaptable and flexible with a focus on continuous improvement - Comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information - Strong team orientation with a customer service mindset Requirements - Please note - Due to the nature of the work being done, Human Resources employees may not have a family relationship with any current Symetra employee.
