Job Description
Engineering Manager – Platform Infrastructure
Spotify
• Lead and grow a team of AI-native engineers responsible for Platform’s multi-cloud foundation across GCP and AWS, our security posture, and the developer platform that thousands of Spotify engineers depend on every day. • Define the technical vision for our cloud platform, and make the architectural calls that shape how the rest of R&D builds, ships, and operates. • Own the security and compliance posture of the developer platform end-to-end, ensuring secure-by-default outcomes for every team building on top of us. • Drive the evolution of our developer tooling stack (CI/CD, build systems, deployment, observability) so engineers ship safely and quickly along golden paths instead of bespoke setups. • Bring AI-native capabilities into platform operations, integrating LLM and agent-based automation into infrastructure changes, security remediation, and developer workflows. • Partner with product, go-to-market, and engineering teams to bring our capabilities to market, shaping how the broader industry manages cloud, security, and tooling on top of Portal. • Set and enforce production-grade standards for reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency across services operating at Spotify scale. • Build a team culture grounded in curiosity, technical rigor, and continuous learning in emerging AI systems.
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams working on cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or developer tooling at scale.
- 5+ years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience, with deep expertise in cloud platforms (GCP, AWS).
- Strong grounding in platform security: IAM, secrets management, vulnerability and patch management, and supply chain security.
- Solid command of modern developer tooling (CI/CD, build systems, deployment patterns, observability) and an opinion on what makes platform self-service actually work at scale.
- Track record of designing and operating distributed systems where reliability, cost, and security trade-offs are first-class concerns.
- Familiar with AI and LLM-based systems, and have a point of view on how agents and automation can be responsibly applied to infrastructure operations.
- Clear communication across engineers, product, security, and executive stakeholders, explaining complex trade-offs and earning alignment without losing nuance.
- Ability to create inclusive environments where diverse perspectives strengthen technical and product decisions.
- Actively seek feedback and invest in growing yourself and your team.
Benefits
- Flexible work arrangements
- Professional development
