Role Description This position is remote. Location: Los Angeles, CA. Travel up to 50%. Must have a Valid Driver’s License. We’re hiring a Senior Field Service Engineer within our Diagnostics Division for a field‑based, remote role supporting the Los Angeles territory. The incumbent may reside anywhere within the territory of Los Angeles, CA. In this role, you will serve as a senior‑level technical expert supporting advanced diagnostic instrumentation and complex systems, including laboratory automation. The position requires strong, independent problem‑solving skills, deep technical expertise, and the ability to build trusted relationships with customers in a fast‑paced field environment. As a trusted advisor and escalation resource, the Senior Field Service Engineer ensures optimal instrument performance, regulatory compliance, and high levels of customer satisfaction while representing the organization at the highest technical level. Shift: Monday to Friday 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience required. - Minimum 5 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer. - Ability to travel locally up to 95% and long‑distance up to 25%. - Valid driver’s license. Requirements - Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade complex diagnostic instruments and automation systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime. - Perform advanced troubleshooting of hardware, software, and system‑level issues; independently resolve complex service challenges. - Serve as a technical escalation point for critical customer issues and complex service situations. - Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive communication and expert technical guidance. - Own and manage the assigned territory, prioritizing service activities to meet customer and business requirements. - Ensure all service activities comply with Abbott quality systems, regulatory standards, and laboratory safety requirements. - Accurately document service activities, resolutions, and compliance‑related records. - Collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales, Applications, Technical Support, and Engineering teams to support customer success. - Provide technical mentoring and informal guidance to Field Service Engineers and peers as needed. - Utilize remote diagnostic tools and digital technologies to maximize instrument uptime and service efficiency. - Maintain required certifications and complete ongoing technical training.
