As the North America Trade Compliance Manager, you will lead and support the Director, Trade Compliance in the implementation and enhancement of our international trade compliance program globally, with specific accountability for the USA. This role acts as a key regional subject matter expert, providing guidance to the business and ensuring compliance frameworks are effectively implemented and maintained. What you’ll do on a typical day: - Lead the establishment and ongoing enhancement of export/import compliance standards, guidelines and monitoring procedures for GXO’s operations in the USA and in partnership with Director, Trade Compliance and external trade compliance counsel. - Drive the implementation and effectiveness of ITAR / EAR, import, and customs compliance control policies, procedures, and resources through training, communication, and process improvements. - Proactively identify and address compliance risks, driving continuous improvement initiatives and implementing sustainable solutions. - Have experience of working with DDTC requirements and ensuring GXO achieves and maintains compliance. - Monitor and interpret regulatory developments (ITAR, EAR, customs, sanctions), ensuring the business remains informed and compliant. - Provide operational and reporting support for queries related to ACE. - Research foreign import/export regulations relating to company’s import/export activities. - Assist business units with customs-related issues - import, export and customs compliance. - Oversee compliance with ITAR and EAR sites, driving risk mitigation and process improvements. - Support the standardization of trade compliance processes and assist with trade compliance-related matters relevant to the North/South American offices. - Review and enhance Restricted Party Screening and Enhanced Due Diligence process, identifying opportunities for improvement. - Support and assist with other aspects of the Compliance team work as required, such as compliance audits and visits, reviews, awareness and training on the GXO Code of Business Ethics and its associated policies, anti-bribery and anti-trust. - Keep abreast of changes to general trade regulations which may affect GXO. - The role will require travel primarily within the USA. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience. - 7-10 years of work experience in U.S. import/export regulations and trade compliance. - Strong expertise in U.S. customs software and systems, ACE and EEI filings. - Experience with Mexico and Canadian customs frameworks. - Advanced knowledge of export regulations, ITAR and EAR and customs regulations. - Advanced knowledge about United States economic sanctions regulations, with particular emphasis on the Office of Foreign Assets (OFAC) sanctions and general knowledge about U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry Security (BIS) and U.S. State Department, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) export control regulations, Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). - Strong Microsoft Office skill including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. - Travel Requirement: up to 25%. Requirements - Licensed Customs Broker, strongly preferred. - Free trade qualification experience (USMCA and IMMEX). - Knowledge of the logistics and / or supply chain business. - Experience working with 3PL customers on import and export issues. - Knowledge of FAR and DEFAR compliance. Qualifications - Experience in enhancing delivery networks for direct to consumer shipping solutions to improve transportation cost, speed, and customer experience. - Experience working in an e-Commerce environment and deep understanding of the D2C (Direct-to-Consumer) landscape. - Proven track record in complex carrier negotiations including contract review. - Applies sound judgment and experience to plan and execute effectively, balancing cost, speed, and customer experience trade-offs. - Ability to partner with cross-functional stakeholders to design and implement new analytical models and tools, enabling data-driven decisions and optimize cost, service, and delivery experience. - Strong project management experience including managing complex project goals, providing timely project updates. - Ability to coordinate and guide the work of a geographically distributed team across different time zones while fostering a positive environment for the team members. - Ability to analyze and evaluate complex information to identify optimal solutions. - Strong vendor management experience to drive success for the end consumer. - Experience with training and developing team members. - Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office software including Google Docs, Word, PowerPoint, Excel. Requirements - Generally requires a minimum of 7+ years of experience in a logistics environment with deep knowledge of transportation economics and supply chain. - Bachelor's degree in business or logistics or in a related field required or equivalent work experience.
