Aviation Planner/Sales Support

Role Description Woolpert is hiring an Aviation Planner/Sales Support to join our dynamic Aviation team in Florida. This position may be based remotely anywhere in the state of Florida. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join Woolpert’s Aviation Planning Team and contribute to a diverse portfolio of aviation planning projects focused on the Florida market, with occasional support to the National market. - Serve as an aviation planner and collaborate closely with project managers to help clients implement programmatic solutions for: - Airport master plans - Airport layout plans (ALP) - Site and facility plans - Statewide aviation planning initiatives - AAM infrastructure strategic planning and integration - Collaborate with aviation planning project managers, senior planners, FAA and State DOT representatives, airport sponsors, and multidisciplinary technical teams. - Support regional program directors with identifying leads and bringing in sales, responding to RFP/RFQs to develop winning proposals. - Facilitate relationship building through onsite visits or attending industry conferences. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in planning, Urban Planning, Aviation Management, Civil Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus. - 5-7 years of relevant experience in aviation planning, preferably in consulting or public agency setting. - Working knowledge of the industry, FAA Advisory Circulars, and the airport planning process, including ALPs and airport master plans. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with GIS, AutoCAD, and/or other planning and visualization software. - Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines. - Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical material clearly. Must submit technical writing sample. - Familiarity with the Florida aviation market and location within the State of Florida is desirable. Requirements - Support Project Managers and Senior Planners in delivering a wide range of aviation planning and aviation research deliverables. - Leverage a consultant mindset: - Critical and creative thinking to solve problems - Ability to determine the approach to an analysis and demonstrate the methods and rationale for their application - Develop spreadsheets or other tools to analyze, measure, and compare elements of a study - Display resourcefulness and ability to draw from a variety of materials - Ability to distill knowledge and integrate it into practical applications - Prepare and contribute or lead the production of final deliverables such as: - Airport master plans - ALPs - Planning studies - Technical reports - Executive summaries - Strategic roadmaps - Planning workshop and presentation materials - Project websites/story maps - Conduct data collection, research, and analysis related to: - Airport operations - Aviation facility planning - Forecasting - Airspace - Capacity - Identify and logically explain an airport’s critical aircraft and how it applies to the unique nature of an individual airport. - Lead the master plan or ALP design and layout effort to provide safe and effective facilities that meet standards and accommodate demand. - Support stakeholder engagement and client meetings by preparing materials and presenting findings. - Stay informed on FAA Advisory Circulars and federal and state policies and planning procedures for current and emerging aviation technologies. - Demonstrate and practice a thorough understanding of airport airspace surfaces and navigational aids. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, timely project components. - Ensure high-quality deliverables through extensive report review/modification and ALP review and editing. - Travel to airport and client locations for site visits, field research, meetings, presentations, or workshops, as needed. - Assist in new business development through supporting the marketing team and aviation program directors in the generation of marketing materials, proposals, and client outreach.
