Associate HR Director
The Nature Conservancy
Role Description As a key member of the Western United States and Canada (WUSCAN) HR team, the Associate HR Director (AHRD) builds strategic partnerships with leaders and HR team members and collaborates across multiple Business Units to implement human-centered and impactful HR initiatives that support The Nature Conservancy’s mission, values, and organizational goals. This role is instrumental in fostering an inclusive, high-performing, and equitable culture across the WUSCAN Division. Key responsibilities include: - Serves as a primary liaison between the People Team and Business Unit managers to ensure alignment and delivery of high quality, consistent HR practices. - Promotes positive employee relations by facilitating conflict resolution, investigating misconduct, and recommending remedies aligned with Conservancy policies, SOPs, competencies, and values. - Provides strategic consultation on organizational structure, job creation or elimination, and operational efficiencies, while ensuring managers understand employment laws, regulations, divisional/regional best practices and internal policies. - Participates in strategic planning and goal setting to align HR priorities with business objectives. - Coaches managers and staff on setting objectives, delivering meaningful and timely feedback, and fostering a culture of continuous development and high performance. - Advises on managing performance issues, including terminations, with attention to business impact and legal risk and in collaboration with HR legal and senior HR staff. - Assists managers in developing job descriptions and provides salary guidance. - Conducts annual equity analysis and ensures equitable promotion and compensation decisions. - Builds out compensation practices that are equitable, fiscally sound, and aligned with organizational policies. - Collaborates with Learning and Development to assess training needs, builds hiring manager capabilities, delivers HR-related training, and supports HR team members / liaisons in managing administrative HR functions. - Contributes to enterprise-wide initiatives such as compensation structures, culture and engagement programs, talent acquisition strategies, and staff development. - Leads or participates in cross-functional project teams to support organizational priorities. - Supervises, coaches, and empowers a team of HR Generalists dedicated to providing exceptional service and support. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of HR experience supporting large client groups in a global, matrixed, complex environment, or equivalent combination. - Experience supervising an HR team for one or more of the following: employee relations, compensation and performance management, staff development/training, organizational development, and/or talent acquisition. - Experience working with senior managers to consult, develop and implement people strategies and initiatives. - Experience investigating and managing employee relations concerns, making recommendations and influencing conflict resolution. - Experience using MS Office software with experience in constructing and producing reports, data manipulation, and analysis to inform business decisions. - Experience presenting to leaders and delivering training to employees. - May travel and work non-standard business hours as needed to accommodate clients in different time zones. Desired Qualifications - Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated. - Advanced understanding of HR concepts, processes, and services. - Outstanding interpersonal skills and strong client service orientation. - Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with all levels of individuals. - Negotiation skills. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful, and highly visible environment. Salary Information The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $109,000-$142,000. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience.
