Job Description
Engineering Manager, Native App & AI Platform
Sequencing
Role Description The Engineering Manager, Native App & AI Platform, leads the team responsible for Sequencing.com’s AI health experience across the React Native mobile app and the underlying AI platform. This role reports into senior engineering leadership and partners closely with the AI Technical Lead, who owns architecture and technical direction, while owning day to day execution, delivery discipline, production reliability, and team health. This is a people leadership role as much as a technical delivery role. The focus is on leading mobile frontend execution, strengthening the underlying AI platform, and building the operating discipline, team structure, and production reliability needed to deliver trustworthy, real time health insights from DNA at scale. Impact - Own roadmap sequencing, delivery predictability, and capacity planning across the Native App and AI Platform. - Drive predictable React Native releases across iOS and Android, with strong focus on frontend quality, product execution, and customer experience. - Lead and develop a distributed team of engineers through coaching, regular 1:1s, hiring, performance management, and clear day to day accountability. - Improve app performance, stability, and deployment reliability so customers can trust their health insights any time they open the app. - Keep backend contracts and APIs clean and stable so mobile and platform teams can move quickly without creating friction or rework. - Drive production grade implementation of multi agent architecture, planner agents, retrieval systems, model orchestration, and latency optimization. - Build evaluation and regression checks into release workflows so health insights stay stable as the system evolves. - Set and enforce clear targets for performance, reliability, and latency so the AI app responds in real time. - Maintain clean architectural boundaries between AI platform and core systems so the platform remains understandable and maintainable over time. - Build team resilience and reduce key person dependencies so the platform can scale sustainably. - Lead AI related incident response, postmortems, and long term fixes so sensitive health data and insights stay dependable. - Partner with Product, Bioinformatics, and Data to turn AI complexity into clear plans, accuracy guardrails, and measurable AI performance. - Communicate clearly with leadership when focus is high on AI quality and reliability. Qualifications - 7+ years of engineering management experience working with high complexity, high visibility systems. - Strong people management experience, including coaching, 1:1s, hiring, and performance management. - Experience leading native mobile engineering teams, ideally with React Native across iOS and Android. - Strong frontend and product delivery instincts, with ability to lead customer facing mobile experiences, not just backend execution. - Experience leading AI infrastructure, AI platforms, or distributed backend teams handling sensitive or mission critical data. - Familiarity with multi agent systems, planner agents, retrieval architecture, model orchestration, and ML backed production systems. - Strong backend foundation in TypeScript or a similar production environment. - Proven record of improving execution predictability and delivery discipline in engineering teams. - Comfortable enforcing architectural guardrails and clean boundaries between systems and teams. - Power user of AI and LLM tools for planning, communication, and process design. This is not optional. - Strong command of project management and documentation tooling, including Jira, Confluence, and similar systems. - Experience managing and supporting distributed teams in fully remote environments. - Clear communicator who can turn deep technical details into simple operational plans for non technical partners.
