Role Description Du bist verantwortlich für den Rollout passiver Infrastruktur bei Neubau- und Umbaumaßnahmen im Mobilfunk (Bereich Tower) unter Einhaltung der Termin- und Budgetvorgaben und unter Beachtung der wirtschaftlichen, technischen und rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen bis zur Übergabe an den:die Kund:in. - Verantwortlichkeit für die Deinem Team zugeordneten Mitglieder, sowohl fachlich, als auch disziplinarisch. - Verantwortung für den zielgerichteten Einsatz des der Gruppe zugeordneten Budgets für Investitionen einschließlich der Ableitung von Budgetoptimierungsmaßnahmen. - Gestalten der konzeptionellen Zusammenarbeit und eigenständige Verhandlungsführung mit externen Dienstleistern und Vendoren im Rahmen der operativen Netzausbauprojekte für Vodafone-Deutschland sowie weiterer (ext.) Kund:innen. - Aktive Prüfung unserer Prozesse auf Verbesserungspotenzial und Geben von Feedback an zentrale Stakeholder für „best practise“-Ansätze, auch zur Einführung neuer kostengünstiger Technologien und Projekte. - Erstellung von Anforderungen für die Weiterentwicklung von Infrastruktur-spezifischen Reportings. Role Description The Lead Infrastructure Engineer on the Mission Control team plays a critical role in setting technical direction and building, operating, and evolving the cloud infrastructure that supports reliable, secure, and scalable product delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for turning platform needs, application requirements, and operational constraints into automated infrastructure, developer workflows, and team execution plans. Working across cloud infrastructure, DevOps, production operations, and engineering leadership, this role partners closely with Engineering, Product, Security, Data, and domain Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure teams can ship quickly without compromising reliability, security, or compliance. This role leads the development and evolution of core systems, spanning cloud environments, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerized workloads, observability, secrets management, networking, data infrastructure, and deployment automation within a regulated, high-stakes environment. Success requires strong systems thinking, pragmatic engineering judgment, and the ability to guide a small, elite team through ambiguity. The Lead Infrastructure Engineer is expected to operate in an AI-native engineering environment, using modern coding agents, automation tools, and rapid prototyping workflows to improve delivery speed and infrastructure quality. In parallel, this individual will help create the foundation for AI-enabled product capabilities by ensuring the underlying systems are dependable, observable, secure, cost-aware, and easy to use. Qualifications - 5-8+ years building, operating, and improving production infrastructure, internal platforms, or DevOps systems. - 2+ years as a tech lead, staff-level project lead, TLM, or hands-on leader guiding projects and mentoring engineers. - Deep experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including compute, networking, storage, IAM, and managed services. - Strong hands-on infrastructure as code experience, preferably Terraform or a comparable framework, with reusable module design. - Experience with CI/CD, deployment automation, release workflows, and modern DevOps practices at platform scale. - Comfort working with containers and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, or similar platforms. - Ability to write scripts or production-quality automation in Python, Go, Rust, Bash, TypeScript, or a similar language. - Experience leading production operations with observability, alerting, incident response, runbooks, and post-incident improvement. - Working knowledge of cloud security fundamentals, including IAM, network segmentation, secrets management, encryption, and secure configuration practices. - Track record improving developer velocity, cloud cost efficiency, reliability, deployment safety, or operational maturity. - Excellent communication, prioritization, and judgment in ambiguity, with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Experience - Experience operating as a Technical Lead or Tech Lead Manager responsible for both technical implementation, technical direction, and people development. - Experience building infrastructure, internal platforms, or developer tools for fast-moving product engineering teams. - Experience in fintech, mortgage, lending, payments, insurance, or other regulated domains. - Experience supporting AI and data infrastructure, including secure access to model platforms, data pipelines, vector databases, or GPU-enabled workloads.
