The Health Data Analytics Consultant will provide support on a number of payment model implementation contracts requiring intermediate SQL or Python experience as well as knowledge of statistics and research methodology. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Schedule: Monday - Friday, daylight shift in your time zone Primary Responsibilities: - Perform a broad range of quantitative analysis to inform the design, implementation, and evaluation of Medicare and Medicaid payment models - Support the development of payment calculations, conduct financial and trend analysis, calculate quality metrics, and perform fast-paced ad-hoc analysis to quickly address client needs - Work with clients to verify analysis parameters and specifications - Apply machine learning, econometrics/statistics, predictive modeling, return-on-investment analysis, simulation, and data visualization methods to support the development of health policy - Efficiently query large databases of healthcare claims and eligibility data - Write detailed specifications and documentation of data processing and analytical steps - Write effective and efficient code both independently and under the guidance of project managers using best practice quality control procedures - Maintain a consistently high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks - Work effectively and cooperatively as a member of a project teams - Prepare data and information for internal as well as external use, contribute to reports, and assist with project coordination tasks You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: - 4+ years of experience in health/analytics related field - 4+ years of experience using Python, SQL or R in a research, consulting, or business environment - Experience working with medical claims and enrollment data in large data warehouse environments - Familiarity with healthcare data/payment concepts (e.g., claims data structure/contents, claim types, payment concepts) - Experience in preparing data and information and contributing to reports and presentations - Proven excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a focus on meeting deadlines - Experience working on implementing or evaluating value-based payment programs - Experience working in Snowflake or Databricks environments Preferred Qualifications: - Academic coursework in statistics, econometric modeling, or other comparable coursework - Experience conducing statistical analysis to inform health policy - Experience with databases having complex structures and relationships, such as the Integrated Data Repository or Chronic Conditions Warehouse - Experience managing and analyzing large datasets using SAS grid and other parallel processing techniques - Experience with other software such as Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VBA) - Understanding of Medicare and Medicaid payment methodologies - Experience with other software such as Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VBA) *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy. • Optimize and expand existing PostgreSQL-based analytics pipelines, ensuring performance, scalability, and data accuracy across large operational datasets. • Extend existing analytical models and reports to incorporate new data sources, asset types, or mission areas under the government contract. • Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using business intelligence tools leveraging custom SQL as the foundation for all datasets. • Analyze industrial asset performance metrics – including operational availability, reliability, and maintenance success rates – to identify trends and improvement opportunities. • Support the development and continuous improvement of key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure maintenance performance, asset reliability, and lifecycle effectiveness. • Extract, transform, and analyze data from ERP and CMMS systems. • Perform data validation and continuous quality assurance to ensure consistency and accuracy across reports and source systems. • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions. • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security in compliance with applicable government standards. • Document analytical processes, methodologies, and SQL logic for traceability and reproducibility. • Support ad-hoc data analysis requests and provide actionable insights to leadership. • Contribute to the enhancement of established data workflows and reporting standards to improve scalability, consistency, and usability across contracts.
