Role Description This is not a typical design role. The Lead Designer will define and drive the creative direction for two of South Africa’s leading ISPs — Mweb and Webafrica. This role owns the end-to-end design function, shaping how both brands show up across every customer touchpoint. From high-level creative vision through to hands-on execution, this role is responsible for delivering world-class, conversion-driven design across digital, social, video, product, and print channels. This role combines hands-on creative excellence with strong leadership, requiring someone who can both craft standout work and build a high-performing, future-fit design team. Qualifications - Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field - 5+ years of design experience, with a strong, diverse portfolio across digital, social, video, and print - 2+ years leading and managing design teams (agency or in-house) - Proven experience working across multiple brands or large-scale design environments - Strong proficiency in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects), Figma, and related platforms Requirements - Own and define the creative direction for both Mweb and Webafrica, ensuring each brand is distinct, consistent, and market-leading - Lead the development of concepts from brief through to execution across all formats (digital, video, social, print, product UX/UI) - Set and uphold exceptional standards of design craft, ensuring all output is polished, modern, and effective - Continuously evolve and refine brand identities, toolkits, and design systems to ensure consistency at scale - Balance creativity with performance — delivering work that drives measurable results - Champion innovation in design, continuously raising the bar for creative output and customer experience - Manage and prioritise a high volume of work across two major brands in a fast-paced environment - Ensure seamless delivery of campaigns, product launches, and always-on marketing initiatives - Maintain strong project management discipline, ensuring timelines, quality, and efficiency are consistently met - Balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution when required - Lead, mentor, and inspire a multi-skilled in-house design team - Build and scale design capability, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement - Develop emerging talent and create clear growth pathways within the team - Establish efficient workflows, tools, and processes to maximise team output and effectiveness - Partner closely with marketing, product, and commercial teams to deliver cohesive and effective campaigns - Build strong relationships across the business through clear communication, high EQ, and collaborative ways of working - Act as the design voice within the organisation, influencing decision-making through creative insight Benefits - Private Health Insurance - Provident Fund - Work From Home - Performance Bonus - Internet subsidy
