Litigation Department Director

• Oversee workflow distribution across the litigation department, ensuring cases are staffed appropriately and moved forward efficiently • Monitor and manage escalations — stepping in to resolve complex case issues, attorney requests, or client concerns • Conduct performance management for paralegal staff, including goal-setting, feedback, corrective action, and recognition • Provide ongoing training for Paralegals and Litigation Assistants, ensuring staff are equipped to successfully manage their own caseloads • Be available as a hands-on resource for team questions and day-to-day case support • Ensure team members are following all firm protocols, policies, and procedures; escalate concerns to the Operations Director as needed • Train, coach, and develop Paralegal Team Leads, building their capacity to lead effectively and independently • Serve as the primary liaison between the paralegal team and firm attorneys, facilitating strong working relationships and clear communication • Design, develop, document, and continuously improve litigation department processes and procedures • Track and analyze team metrics; identify trends and present actionable insights to firm leadership • Shadow, review, and consult on paralegal applicants at specified stages of the hiring process • Participate in onboarding and integration of new litigation team members • Champion Parnall Law's five core values — Teamwork, Talent, Truth, Tenacity, and Triumph — in every interaction and decision • Follow and maintain all firm policies and procedures • Proportionately contribute to overall client satisfaction and firm revenue goals
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of personal injury litigation paralegal experience — active litigation stage experience required; pre-litigation backgrounds will not be considered
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory, team lead, or management role overseeing paralegal or legal operations staff
- Deep working knowledge of state, local, and federal court rules across multiple jurisdictions
- Proven ability to build, coach, and develop high-performing teams
- Experience designing or improving litigation workflows, processes, and documentation
- Strong working knowledge of e-filing, legal documentation, and litigation management software (SmartAdvocate experience a plus)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present metrics and outcomes to firm leadership
- Highly organized with the ability to manage department-wide workloads and priorities
- Genuine empathy for injured clients and an unwavering client-first mindset

- Ability to work during Mountain Time business hours (Mon–Thu 8–5, Fri 8–4)
