Job Description

Founding M&A Partner

AC4M4U

Role Description Our client, a rapidly growing boutique law firm, is seeking a Founding M&A Partner to help establish and lead its dedicated mergers and acquisitions practice. This is a rare opportunity for a senior corporate attorney to take on significant ownership, lead sophisticated transactions, and play a central role in building a specialized M&A platform within an entrepreneurial, high-growth firm environment. The firm is seeking an attorney with 6–10 years of post-JD experience (class years 2015–2019 only) and a strong background in technology-focused M&A transactions. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing deals from inception through closing with minimal oversight—and at the more senior level, fully independently. While the firm currently handles M&A matters within its broader corporate practice, this hire will be instrumental in developing and scaling a dedicated M&A group. Practice Focus - The majority of the work consists of sell-side technology M&A transactions, representing technology companies in strategic acquisitions rather than private equity-to-private equity deals. - Typical transaction sizes range from approximately $50 million to over $200 million. - Additional work may include: - Select buy-side M&A transactions - Emerging companies and venture capital matters - General corporate and strategic transactional work that arises within the firm's client base Qualifications - 6–10 years of M&A experience at a top-tier law firm (AmLaw 20 preferred) - Significant experience leading or co-leading transactions valued at $50M+ rather than functioning solely in a supporting role - Strong background in tech-focused sell-side M&A - Ability to independently draft and negotiate: - Merger agreements - Stock purchase agreements (SPAs) - Asset purchase agreements (APAs) - Letters of intent (LOIs) - Term sheets and related transaction documents - Willingness to support broader corporate matters as needed - Entrepreneurial, business-minded, and comfortable operating in a modern, fast-moving firm environment Benefits - This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious M&A attorney seeking meaningful leadership responsibility, sophisticated deal work, and the ability to help shape the future direction of a growing corporate practice.
