Job Description

Manager, National Business Development (Critical Infrastructure & Data Centers)

Per Scholas

Role Description Per Scholas is seeking highly specialized, contract-based Business Development Consultants to open doors in industries where current Talent Solutions capacity does not yet reach. This is not a generalist account management role. We are looking for domain insiders; people with existing relationships, sector fluency, and the hustle to create pipeline where none currently exists. Each consultant will be assigned a specific regional geography and industry domain, working as a targeted 'pitch hitter' to identify employer partners with immediate or near-term hiring needs aligned to our graduate talent pool. This role is deliberately distinct from our Enterprise Solutions Team, who manage core products and existing national accounts. You will be building net new. Key Responsibilities - Market Penetration: Prospect, engage, and qualify employer partners in your assigned domain and region who have hiring needs for entry level tech talent. - Network Activation: Leverage your existing network to open doors quickly and generate warm leads within the first 30 days. - Employer Discovery: Conduct discovery meetings with hiring managers to understand workforce needs, culture, and hiring timelines; assess fit with Per Scholas graduate profiles. - Pipeline Management: Document all activity, contacts, and pipeline progression in HubSpot; maintain accurate and up-to-date records throughout the engagement. - Transition Planning: Deliver a structured 30/60/90-day report outlining leads generated, employers engaged, and conversion opportunities for the national team to inherit. - Internal Coordination: Work alongside the National TSOL team to align employer messaging, graduate profiles, and available cohort timelines. Qualifications - 5+ years of business development or sales experience in one of the target domain areas above, with a demonstrable book of contacts. - Proven track record of opening new accounts, not just managing existing relationships. - Comfort operating as a self-directed, entrepreneurial contributor with minimal hand-holding. - Strong discovery and consultative selling skills; ability to translate employer hiring challenges into partnership opportunities. - Familiarity with workforce development, staffing, or human capital solutions is a plus — but deep domain expertise takes precedence. - Comfort using HubSpot or similar CRM for pipeline tracking and reporting. - Commitment to Per Scholas’ mission of economic equity and tech access for underrepresented adults. Requirements - Deep domain experience and a pre-existing employer network are required. - Specialized track in Critical Infrastructure & Data Centers: Data centers, cloud infrastructure providers, colocation facilities, and hyperscale operators. Contract Structure & Compensation - Initial engagement: 180-day contract with defined deliverables (contingent on initial 90 day outputs). - Hourly Rate: $35 – $45 per hour, commensurate with domain expertise and experience. - Potential for contract extension based on pipeline outcomes and organizational fit. - Multiple consultants may be engaged simultaneously across different domains and regions. Benefits - Over 40 days of paid time off each year through a mix of holidays, vacation, and sick/personal time. - Comprehensive Medical Coverage through Cigna or Kaiser Permanente. - Dental and Vision Insurance options available. - 401(k) plan with a current 100% employer match on contributions up to 6%. - Free, confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) access. - Up to 6 weeks of 100% paid parental leave. - Access to employer-paid life and AD&D Insurance, short-term disability coverage, and flexible spending accounts. - Additional voluntary benefits available, including Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Legal Services, and Pet Insurance.
