Role Description Smeetz is the leading AI-powered unified commerce platform for the European leisure and entertainment industry with 200+ venues, 10+ countries, €10M raised, and a Series A in motion. We need a trusted senior operator to own the operational backbone of Finance: - Full accounting cycle across 5 entities (CH, UK, FR, US, ES) - Payroll, payment cycles, reporting, and controlling - Automated end-to-end with AI and modern tooling Reports directly to the CEO. This is a delegation hire: leadership stops worrying about Finance once you're in the seat. We move fast and expect the same with precision without bureaucracy. Key Responsibilities - Accounting Ownership: Full cycle with journals, accruals, provisions, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close. Mentor the Operations Assistant on AP/AR. - Multi-Entity Compliance: Primary contact for accounting partners in UK, FR, US, ES. Review and approve subsidiary financials and tax presentations. Support audits, statutory filings, transfer pricing. - Payroll & Payments: Own end-to-end payroll across jurisdictions. Run regular AP cycles to safeguard funds availability. The CEO does not need to follow up. - Reporting & Controlling: Timely financial statements, KPI dashboards, budget-to-actual, variance analysis, cash flow. Challenge department leads when material deviations from budget appear; surface root causes to the CEO with clean supporting analysis. - Data Integrity: Streamline workflows between Sales, Account Management, Implementation, and Finance. Eliminate reconciliation friction. - Automation & AI: Drive AI adoption inside Finance. Replace manual work with AI and no-code automation (Anthropic Claude, n8n, Notion, Zapier). Goal: a Finance function that runs on systems, not on hours. Qualifications - 7+ years in accounting, with 3-5+ years in a senior or managerial role - Hands-on IFRS multi-entity experience; Swiss GAAP and transfer pricing a strong plus - BSc in Accounting/Finance; ACCA, CPA, MSc, MBA, or equivalent qualification a plus - Practical command of QuickBooks; advanced Excel and Google Sheets, Chargebee a plus - Concrete example of implementing AI or automation in a finance context - Full professional English; French, Spanish, or German a plus - SaaS or scale-up experience a plus; SQL exposure a plus Personal Attributes - Trustable: leadership delegates Finance to you and stops worrying. - Precise: accuracy is a personal standard, not a checklist. - Fast & energetic: bias to action. • Accountable for ensuring the Group’s entity structure, capitalisation and intercompany arrangements are appropriately designed, technically sound, tax‑efficient and compliant with IFRS, local statutory requirements and internal governance policies. • Leading and / or reviewing entity goodwill impairment assessments, balance sheet recapitalisations and entity restructurings and reductions. • Provide technical accounting leadership to support simplification, cost reduction and balance sheet optimisation initiatives, while safeguarding reporting integrity and audit robustness. • Plays a lead role in simplifying the Group’s entity structure and ensuring the financing activities are correctly reflected in the Group’s financial statements and statutory accounts. • Exercises significant influence over the Group’s technical accounting positions, legal entity architecture and intercompany financing design, providing authoritative recommendations on complex accounting matters and structural decisions. • Materially influences balance sheet outcomes and audit conclusion.
