Legal Counsel / Commercial Contracts Lawyer

Role Description BCD is seeking to hire a qualified commercial contracts lawyer meeting the below specifications to join our global legal team. This position is remote and based in India, with a primary focus on supporting BCD and its affiliated companies in the Americas and other regions. The successful candidate will be responsible for: - Reviewing, negotiating, and drafting various commercial contracts, working directly with our sales and account management teams. - Providing expert and strategic legal and business advice to BCD’s commercial stakeholders, including sales, program management, procurement, finance, and supplier relations. - Negotiating directly with clients. - Serving as a primary legal contact for assigned accounts. - Advising business clients on legal and regulatory issues and risks, data privacy and security issues, approval processes, company policies and procedures, and business strategy. - Increasing legal awareness of the commercial teams by communicating contractual obligations in non-legal terms through presentations/trainings and creating and distributing necessary documentation. - Maintaining and updating template agreements for supported regions. - Monitoring the development of new laws affecting the business. Qualifications - Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in an international western law firm and/or multinational in-house law department. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in fluent English. - Experience drafting and negotiating multinational commercial contracts, especially client sales or service agreements. - Willingness and ability to primarily work outside of regular business hours (including late evenings and/or very early mornings) to support international time zones, especially the Americas region. - Self-starter with strong organizational and time-management skills. - Able to “triage” and balance many projects at once simultaneously. - Customer-service oriented approach to practicing law with a focus on practical application. - Detail-oriented and skilled in legal drafting. - Ability to interact with company leadership, propose practical and creative solutions to complex business issues, and provide pragmatic risk assessments. - Work collaboratively across multiple functions, organizations and with a diverse group of colleagues at all levels. - You are a team-player who will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. - Experience in travel industry preferred, but not required. - Understanding of basic data privacy is helpful, but not required.
