About the Role We are looking for an Engineering Manager, NPD to help us build a new generation of innovative Coffee & Beverage products across our Shark & Ninja ranges. This role is the US engineering anchor for the category, leading the subsystems with the most direct consumer KPI and touchpoint impact - the parts of the product that drive star ratings, daily user experience, and brand-critical sensory performance. You will lead a small US-based team of two direct reports focused on KPI- and touchpoint-driving subsystems on our flagship beverage appliance programs, while acting as the category-level technical representative to executive leadership. Expected split: ~70% program-level subsystem delivery and people leadership / ~30% category-level representation. This role suits an experienced engineer who applies first-principles thinking and sound judgment to solve complex problems across thermal, fluidic, and electromechanical domains - equally comfortable in a CAD/lab environment as in an executive review. What You'll Do Program Delivery & People Leadership (~70%) - Lead a US-based team of two engineers, setting clear technical direction, reviewing work, managing prioritization, and providing regular structured feedback and coaching - Take overall ownership of KPI-critical subsystem designs through conception, CAD execution, prototyping, and verification - working at pace and developing the team to do the same - Drive subsystem performance against category KPIs using quantitative test and DOE methods to close the loop from consumer requirement to measurable design parameter - Continuously evaluate and improve designs for cost efficiency, manufacturing improvements, increased quality, and consumer value - Build and test prototypes to de-risk concepts, validate assumptions, and drive design decisions; plan and run DOEs, analyze results, and translate findings into specification and design changes - Represent the global team's work in program reviews and take accountability for the quality and timeliness of their deliverables - Collaborate seamlessly with the UK-based program engineering team and coordinate closely with US-based Product Management, Industrial Design, and Technical/Technology teams - Coordinate effectively with China-based manufacturing and engineering partners to support design-for-manufacture and production scale-up Category Representation (~30%) - Serve as the technical voice of the US Coffee & Beverage engineering team in executive-level reviews, portfolio planning sessions, and cross-category forums - Synthesize technical status, risk, and learning across multiple active programs into clear, decision-grade communications for executive audiences - Lead post-mortem and lessons-learned activities across the category; identify systemic issues and drive process or architectural improvements across programs - Contribute to category-level technology roadmaps and long-range capability planning alongside engineering leadership on both sides of the Atlantic What You'll Bring Required - Degree-level technical qualification, ideally in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or Industrial Design Engineering - 6+ years of proven experience in Mechanical / Product Design / Industrial Design environments, including at least one full concept-to-production cycle - 2+ years of people management experience, with demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold accountability for a team of engineers - Experience interfacing and presenting updates to senior or executive leadership who will be both of a technical and non-technical nature. - Demonstrated ability to translate consumer KPIs and qualitative product requirements into concrete, measurable design parameters and test protocols, including DOE planning and interpretation - Experience in plastic manufacturing processes and high-volume consumer goods environments - Proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo to a high level, with demonstrable experience leading CAD reviews - Clear communication of technical concepts to non-technical and executive audiences - in writing, presentations, and live Q&A - Experience working effectively in distributed, multi-site engineering environments (US, UK, China, or similar) - Flexible, collaborative, and positive - with a proactive problem-solving mindset and comfort working semi-autonomously under ambiguity Preferred - Experience in consumer household appliances, particularly coffee, espresso, or hot-beverage products - Familiarity with beverage appliance components: pumps, thermoblocks/boilers, solenoid valves, flow meters, grinders, pressure regulation, and safety devices - Appreciation for electrical engineering, software, and UX design - Experience presenting to executive stakeholders and synthesizing technical content across multiple programs SharkNinja is an equal opportunity employer.
