Construction Inspector

AECOM

Role Description AECOM is currently seeking a Construction Inspector to support a variety of transportation design-build projects throughout the White, GA area. This role will assist with inspection activities on roadway and transportation infrastructure projects, ensuring construction work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and applicable standards. - Perform basic mathematical calculations and follow simple technical instructions - Assist higher-level inspectors with field inspection activities and project support - Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job - Work under immediate supervision and report findings to senior inspection staff - Monitor conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and code requirements by performing inspection duties - Perform daily field inspections and maintain accurate, detailed inspection records - Participate in punch lists, testing, and commissioning activities - Track quality assurance progress and document inspection results - Provide input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers - Document project conditions through photographs and visual records as directed - Verify materials, equipment, and deliverables meet project specifications prior to installation - Communicate inspection findings and potential issues to project management and contractors - Monitor and report on safety compliance and adherence to project safety protocols Qualifications - High School Diploma or equivalent - Valid U.S Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. Role Description We are seeking a Preconstruction Estimator to support high-end renovation projects in a fully remote environment. This role focuses on delivering accurate, defensible cost estimates through detailed digital takeoffs, technical analysis, and close virtual collaboration. The ideal candidate will review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings, analyze complex renovation scopes, and evaluate existing conditions using provided documentation and photos. You will work closely with architects, subcontractors, and internal project managers, managing RFIs, leveling bids, and supporting competitive and accurate project pricing. Key Responsibilities - Perform detailed digital quantity takeoffs using PlanSwift or similar estimating software. - Review and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications. - Identify scope gaps, inconsistencies, and missing disciplines in renovation projects. - Develop accurate conceptual estimates, ROM budgets, and fully detailed bid proposals. - Manage and document the RFI process with architects, engineers, and designers. - Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor bids to ensure complete and comparable pricing. - Normalize subcontractor quotes, identify exclusions, and support complete buyout packages. - Prepare material lists for procurement and assist with buyout coordination. - Benchmark project costs using $/SF historical data to validate budget alignment. - Propose value engineering alternatives that reduce cost without compromising design intent. - Maintain organized digital project files, bid logs, and RFI documentation. - Build and maintain strong remote relationships with subcontractors and vendors. Qualifications - 2+ years of experience in preconstruction estimating, preferably in commercial or high-end residential renovation. - Expert ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings (REQUIRED). - Advanced proficiency with PlanSwift or similar digital takeoff software (REQUIRED). - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (REQUIRED) for cost analysis, bid leveling, and modeling. - Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and assemblies. - Proven experience with subcontractor bid analysis and scope review. - Solid technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. - English Level: B2+ (written and spoken) Preferred Skills & Attributes - Experience developing Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates during early design phases. - Strong negotiation skills to challenge subcontractor pricing while maintaining positive relationships. - Assertive relationship-building skills with trade partners and suppliers. - Ability to perform well under pressure during competitive bid cycles. - Interest in professional growth, mentorship, and developing into a senior estimator role.
