CES Consultants, Inc.
Role Description CES is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Estimator to provide cost estimating services for an MTA NYCT CM Division of Car Equipment (“DCE”) Car Washer Component Repairs Project. This is a fully remote position. The ideal candidate must be responsive, reliable, and able to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential for success in this role. Responsibilities: - Prepare detailed cost estimates. - Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract documents to develop accurate quantity take-offs and pricing. - Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed estimates at various project phases. - Perform quantity take-offs using drawings where applicable. - Evaluate labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and indirect costs, including escalation, contingencies, and risk allowances. - Coordinate with engineering, planning, scheduling, construction, and procurement teams to validate scope, assumptions, and pricing. - Support bid preparation, including pricing strategies, subcontractor comparisons, and bid reviews. - Analyze scope changes, claims, and variations, providing cost impact assessments and backup documentation. - Develop change order estimates and support team during negotiations. - Additional duties as assigned by management. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in cost estimating for NYC transit projects OR no bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in detail cost estimating for NYC transit projects. - Cost data/resource directory and relevant estimating MTA experience with CMs within the past 5-7 years is a must. - Proven experience in developing and managing cost estimates for medium and large-scale projects. - Strong understanding of project management principles, including scope, time, cost, and risk management. Requirements - Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam). - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders. - Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. - Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take initiative. - Perform additional project controls related duties as required.
