Role Description The Category Insights Manager, Alternate Channel is responsible for being a subject matter expert in market dynamics affecting the alternate retailer channel. By leveraging analytics and marketplace knowledge, this role is responsible for helping KeHE customers increase sales and trade area relevance through assortment and merchandising. As with all positions at KeHE, we expect that all actions be consistent with KeHE's Mission, Vision and Values. - Identify product trends specific to alternate channel retailers by analyzing category, attribute and marketplace trends; consumer behavior shifts; shopper purchase patterns. - Analyze consumer behavior shifts and shopper purchase patterns. - Conduct market visits and attend trade shows and industry events. - Curate consumer, demographic, syndicated, and internal data to create optimum, innovative, and actionable assortment and merchandising solutions. - Develop PowerPoint presentations for regional retailers showcasing category insights, hot trends, new and emerging items, and merchandising concepts. - Translate data into actionable insights for KeHE’s sales teams and retail partners. - Source new forms of consumer and market data to provide actionable insights specific to alternate channels. - Lead webinars, present findings and recommendations in a clear and compelling manner. - Lead KeHE’s analysis and support for the internal business development team. - Establish and maintain relationships with key decision makers at retailers. - Collaborate cross-functionally with Category Management, Sales and Sales Enablement teams within KeHE. - Participate in industry speaking events such as panels, news article interviews, etc. - Develop ROI reporting by analyzing implementation rates, product success rates, and sales growth. - Support training and development of Category Insights team members. - Maintain safeguards of confidential company information. Qualifications - 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field of study. - Minimum of three years prior experience in food industry analytics (retailer, supplier, distributor or data provider). - Knowledge in market dynamics, industry shifts, and retailer landscapes is mandatory. - Foodservice (including GPO), Convenience, Exports, and/or other non-traditional grocery retailer experience preferred. - Proficiency with MS Office, primarily Excel and PowerPoint. - Proficiency with SPINS, Circana/IRI, CSIA, ShopperSights, Mintel software. - Willingness to travel (20%). Requirements - Knowledge in market dynamics, industry shifts, and retailer landscapes specifically in alternate channels including convenience stores, airports, exports, specialty retail shops, and food service. - Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under time pressures. - Ability to multi-task in a very fast-paced business environment. - Natural, specialty and/or fresh product knowledge. - Project management, attention to detail, and organizational skills. - Demonstrated thought leadership and creativity skills. - Strong understanding of merchandising tactics and strategies. - Demonstrated strength in oral and written communication skills. - Willingness to take initiative on projects with minimal supervision. - Experience with visualization tools, such as PowerBI, is a plus.
