Role Description Operating within our Electrical Transmission and Distribution team, we are seeking high calibre Cable design staff in a range of roles, from Engineer level to Associate Technical Director. You will undertake detailed design, including technical specifications for designs and contractual documentation for our clients. - Most of our engagement are with DNO’s in Scotland and we also provide services to the Renewable industry and industrial clients. - The position includes a relatively high level of responsibility and accountability with an opportunity to develop your managerial as well as technical knowledge and skills, and to progress within a successful and growing specialist team. - As a Cable Systems Engineer, you will provide technical leadership to junior colleagues and project manage the successful delivery of high voltage cable projects for major utilities. - The position can be based anywhere in the UK and will include travel to Scotland. You will be in control of your own diary and benefit from flexible working arrangements. Role Accountabilities - Create detailed design deliverables for packages of work, including technical specifications for designs and contractual documentation. - Undertake design analysis, review, and approve the work of others to ensure quality of the deliverables. - Perform detailed design or consultancy projects across the life cycle of a cable system from concept stage, through design, construction, operational maintenance and end of life works. - Resolve technical problems, provide solutions, advise clients and stakeholders. - Manage deliverables to timescales and budgets. - Develop personal and company profiles within the client base and wider industry. - Support project delivery teams, from a technical perspective. - Deliver safe and constructible designs through CDM awareness. - Lead design and deliverable innovations, which deliver value for company and clients alike. - Lead teams by example, providing direction, support and technical advice. Qualifications - Proven experience of AC cable system development, design, manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning, from 11kV through 400kV. HVDC experience also favourable. - Experience of cable systems, surveying, evaluation of routes, design of mechanical protection systems, installation of cable would be a distinct advantage. - Good working knowledge of CYMCAP and of related CAD packages. - Desired - Chartered MIET membership or chartership of another appropriate leading UK engineering institution. - Proven track record in UK HSE legislation, Risk and CDM management. - Ability to travel to Scotland to meet clients when necessary. Role Description We're looking for a skilled project manager with extensive experience in banking or financial services. Overview We are looking for a Grid Connection Engineer to support the construction and delivery of utility-scale solar PV projects across the UK. Unlike development-focused roles, this position is dedicated to ensuring that grid connection requirements are successfully implemented during construction and that all works meet DNO specifications, grid codes, and project quality standards. You will act as the technical interface between our construction team, ICPs, DNOs, and commissioning engineers to ensure the project is grid-ready and energised safely and on time. Your mission - Coordinate with the DNO/ICP during all construction-related stages of the grid connection process. - Review and validate detailed designs, drawings, SLDs, and protection schemes delivered by ICPs or subcontractors. - Ensure that all grid connection requirements (G99, G100, protection settings, metering schemes) are fully incorporated into construction works. - Provide technical oversight on HV/MV installations, including substations, switchgear, cables, and transformers. - Monitor construction progress against grid connection milestones and ensure readiness for inspections and energisation. - Review method statements, RAMS, and commissioning plans related to grid works. - Attend DNO/ICP meetings, site inspections, and witness tests as required. - Validate as-built documentation and ensure alignment with the approved connection design. - Support the commissioning team during grid compliance testing and energisation activities. - Ensure all works comply with UK electrical standards, DNO policies, and project specifications. Overview We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer specialising in utility-scale solar PV projects. This role focuses exclusively on the construction, testing, energisation, and handover phases of solar farms. You will ensure that all electrical systems are installed correctly, tested safely, and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, UK regulations, and DNO requirements. You will work closely with EPC contractors, HV specialists, ICPs, and internal engineering teams to deliver fully operational, grid-compliant solar PV plants. Your mission - Review design packages, installation standards, and commissioning procedures for compliance with project and DNO requirements. - Inspect installation quality for PV arrays, inverters, combiner boxes, transformers, switchgear, cables, and SCADA systems. - Ensure all equipment is installed according to UK electrical standards, OEM manuals, and safety regulations. - Verify HV/MV installation readiness for energisation, including substations, RMUs, switchgear, and protection systems. - Lead onsite commissioning activities for all solar electrical systems, including string testing, IV curve testing, inverter commissioning, HV/MV cable tests, transformer tests, protection relay testing, and SCADA validation. - Coordinate with DNOs/ICPs for energisation, witnessed tests, and grid compliance (G99). - Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve commissioning issues such as communication faults, inverter trips, protection issues, and performance deviations. - Validate system performance, including PR, voltage regulation, reactive power capability, and plant controller operation. - Ensure successful completion of G99 commissioning tests and all DNO‑required checks. - Produce commissioning documentation, test reports, redlines, and handover packages. - Support PAC/FAC milestones and close out punch‑list items. Your profile Skills & Qualifications - Degree or vocational qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or similar. - Hands-on experience commissioning utility-scale solar PV or large electrical infrastructure. - Strong understanding of HV/LV systems, electrical protection, inverter technology, and solar plant controls. - Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, I/O lists, functional diagrams, and protection settings. - Comfortable working on active construction sites and performing field-based troubleshooting. - Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with EPCs, ICPs, OEMs, and internal stakeholders.
