Role Description Operating within our Electrical Transmission and Distribution team, we are seeking high calibre Cable design staff in a range of roles, from Engineer level to Associate Technical Director. You will undertake detailed design, including technical specifications for designs and contractual documentation for our clients. - Most of our engagement are with DNO’s in Scotland and we also provide services to the Renewable industry and industrial clients. - The position includes a relatively high level of responsibility and accountability with an opportunity to develop your managerial as well as technical knowledge and skills, and to progress within a successful and growing specialist team. - As a Cable Systems Engineer, you will provide technical leadership to junior colleagues and project manage the successful delivery of high voltage cable projects for major utilities. - The position can be based anywhere in the UK and will include travel to Scotland. You will be in control of your own diary and benefit from flexible working arrangements. Role Accountabilities - Create detailed design deliverables for packages of work, including technical specifications for designs and contractual documentation. - Undertake design analysis, review, and approve the work of others to ensure quality of the deliverables. - Perform detailed design or consultancy projects across the life cycle of a cable system from concept stage, through design, construction, operational maintenance and end of life works. - Resolve technical problems, provide solutions, advise clients and stakeholders. - Manage deliverables to timescales and budgets. - Develop personal and company profiles within the client base and wider industry. - Support project delivery teams, from a technical perspective. - Deliver safe and constructible designs through CDM awareness. - Lead design and deliverable innovations, which deliver value for company and clients alike. - Lead teams by example, providing direction, support and technical advice. Qualifications - Proven experience of AC cable system development, design, manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning, from 11kV through 400kV. HVDC experience also favourable. - Experience of cable systems, surveying, evaluation of routes, design of mechanical protection systems, installation of cable would be a distinct advantage. - Good working knowledge of CYMCAP and of related CAD packages. - Desired - Chartered MIET membership or chartership of another appropriate leading UK engineering institution. - Proven track record in UK HSE legislation, Risk and CDM management. - Ability to travel to Scotland to meet clients when necessary.
