Associate General Counsel

• Lead TuneIn's ad tech contracting. • Serve as the primary legal partner on advertising technology transactions, including programmatic and direct advertising deals, and demand- and supply-side platform integrations. • Identify and navigate the privacy, data protection, and regulatory issues embedded in these deals. • Negotiate content licensing and distribution agreements. • Draft and negotiate agreements with content partners and platform distribution partners. • Provide product counseling. • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to advise on new features, product launches, data flows, and platform integrations. • Spot legal and regulatory issues early in the product development lifecycle and help teams build compliant, user-facing experiences. • Support corporate and governance matters. • Handle routine corporate work. • Step in on other general corporate needs as they arise. • Provide employment law support. • Assist with employment-related matters, including offer letters, separation agreements, contractor arrangements, and workplace policies, partnering with outside counsel as needed on more complex issues. • Drive commercial and legal strategy for key transactions, advising on structure, risk allocation, and business objectives. • Advise business partners on deal structures, pricing models, data usage, intellectual property, and compliance considerations. • Develop scalable legal frameworks and playbooks that strengthen contracting discipline and enable speed without sacrificing quality. • Build and maintain templates, form agreements, terms of service, policies, and internal guidance across TuneIn's legal needs. • Serve as a go-to legal partner across the company, working with Sales, Ad Operations, Content, Business Development, Product, Engineering, Marketing, People, and Finance teams. • Translate legal risk into practical business guidance that accelerates decision-making. • Help identify and proactively address legal risks across the business, particularly as TuneIn scales its advertising business, content partnerships, and platform integrations. • Stay current on evolving privacy regulations, ad tech enforcement trends, and industry self-regulatory frameworks. • Enhance operational efficiency through continuous improvement of contracting processes, approval flows, and deal lifecycle tracking. • Build internal training and guidance for commercial and cross-functional teams.
Job Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in the U.S.
- 10+ years of combined law firm and in-house experience, with a focus on commercial and technology transactions.
- Strong preference for candidates who have worked in ad tech or at an ad-supported media or technology company.
- Proven ability to lead complex commercial deals, including advertising technology agreements, content licensing, and distribution partnerships.
- Substantive experience with data privacy and protection laws and regulations (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, state privacy laws) as applied to advertising technology, audience data, and digital platforms.
- Experience providing product counseling to engineering and product teams on data practices, consumer-facing features, and regulatory compliance.
- Comfort operating as a generalist across multiple legal disciplines, including commercial, product, corporate, and employment law.
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and an ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to operate independently and translate legal advice into actionable business strategy.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines, with adaptability and openness to taking on new or unfamiliar legal areas.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong judgment and high integrity.
- Prior experience managing legal professionals.
