Practice Lead - Service Estimation - Field Engineering

Role Description The Practice Manager is responsible for owning the services costing and estimation process for Field Engineering engagements within Professional Services. This role ensures that services proposals accurately reflect the scope, effort, and resources required to successfully deliver infrastructure deployments and related field engineering services. You would be working closely with Solutions, Sales, Customer Engineering, Project Engineering, and Field Engineering leadership to translate technical scopes of work into structured services estimates that support pricing, staffing plans, and delivery planning. This role introduces a consistent estimation framework for Field Engineering services including: - Site surveys - Infrastructure deployments - Migrations - Dispatch support - Expert services By centralizing estimation expertise, the organization improves forecasting accuracy, protects delivery margins, and enables Field Engineering leaders to focus on delivery execution rather than proposal development. Annual compensation: $125K - $140K USD Qualifications - 7+ years experience in infrastructure deployment, professional services delivery, or services estimation - Strong understanding of Field Engineering deployments including rack installation, equipment installation, and structured cabling - Legally eligible to work in the United States - Experience translating technical designs into delivery effort and services estimates - Experience supporting services proposals or statements of work - Strong collaboration skills across engineering, sales, and delivery organizations - Experience in professional services infrastructure delivery organizations - Experience with structured cabling or low voltage deployment environments - Experience developing costing models or estimation frameworks for services delivery - Exposure to large-scale infrastructure or data center deployments Requirements - Develop costing models that cover common Field Engineering activities including: - Rack installation and rack-and-stack deployments - Structured cabling and low voltage infrastructure installation - Infrastructure migrations and relocations - Site surveys and technical assessments - Dispatch and IMAC support - Field engineering expert services engagements - Ensure estimates align with defined Field Engineering delivery models and staffing structures. - Partner with Sales and Solutions teams during deal development to provide services estimates that support proposal creation and deal approvals. - Provide the services costing inputs used in: - Services proposals - Statements of work - Pricing discussions - Services scope documentation - Ensure that the services estimate accurately reflects the proposed deployment approach and technical scope. - Develop and maintain standardized estimation frameworks across Field Engineering services. - Establish reusable estimation templates for common engagement types and maintain costing models that reflect standard delivery practices, labor assumptions, and partner involvement. - Ensure services estimates are produced consistently across opportunities. - Work with Project Engineers and Field Engineering leadership to validate deployment assumptions used in services estimates. - Ensure estimates reflect realistic field conditions including installation complexity, staging requirements, and partner involvement. - Incorporate lessons learned from delivery execution into future services estimates. - Provide leadership with insight into expected Field Engineering demand based on estimated services activity. - Support resource planning by identifying projected demand across engagement types and helping leadership anticipate staffing needs. - Review estimated effort against actual delivery effort and refine costing models over time. - Improve estimation accuracy through feedback from field execution and project delivery teams. - Identify opportunities to simplify estimation for repeatable services. - Embrace and support Computacenter’s mission and core values. We are looking for a talented and skilled Field Service Engineer to join our Diagnostics division servicing our molecular diagnostic and cytology equipment across the Denver, CO area. Is this role for you? - You have experience providing engineering support to medical devices, including preventative maintenance and troubleshooting. - You are comfortable traveling as required for the job, typically 5 days per week with overnight stays. - You excel at troubleshooting and enjoy solving complex issues. - You are an excellent communicator with customers, setting clear expectations and building strong rapport. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Conducts advanced troubleshooting to repair, test and qualify instruments located at assigned territory sites. - Schedules and manages preventive maintenance and unscheduled visits to instrument sites. - Determines correct inventory levels of repair parts with supply lines. - Documents repair/ resolution of customer calls in CRM system and escalates issues to management as needed. - Works with Product Application Engineers to resolve quality issues and advise of issues and developments. - Keep management advised of issues and developments. - Ensure instrumentation is in compliance with regulatory requirements and quality control standards. Qualifications - Must be able to meet all customer credentialing requirements. - Working knowledge of chemistry principles and chemical handling techniques. - Understanding of proper use and operation of electronic testing equipment. - Knowledge of inventory and procurement systems. - Ability to interface with internal and/or external customers. - Solid computer skills. - Time management skills. - Strong robotics, fluidics and pneumatics experience preferred. - Ability to pass a comprehensive background check. - Possess a valid Driver’s License and maintain a clean driving record.
