As part of our Underwriting team, you will directly impact our business on a daily basis, protecting Cigna‘s sound financial position which enables us to meet our financial commitments to our customers. The Risk & Underwriter Senior Advisor role will be responsible for all underwriting activities in supporting Sales and Account Management (SAM) for renewing a portfolio of clients and for new sales clients. The Risk & Underwriter Senior Advisor will develop client-specific pricing strategies with competitive offers in the marketplace for all requests. These requests may include Request for Proposals (RFPs), Direct Renewals and Market Checks. The Risk & Underwriter Senior Advisor will also provide underwriting support for ad hoc and complex analyses with a potential financial impact. The Risk & Underwriter Senior Advisor will be required to gain in-depth knowledge of the PBM Industry and ESI-specific underwriting methods. What you’ll be doing in this role: - Provides expert content/professional leadership on complex Risk & Underwriting assignments/projects - Manages assigned book of business focused on attaining profitable growth, persistency, and earnings. - Performs case-specific risk assessments. - Performs account level rate development and conducts customer negotiations with Sales on a more complex book of business. - Develops and monitors account earnings plans to achieve growth and profitability. - Develops strategic recommendations related to market competition, products and pricing. - Partners with sales department and brokers to deliver customer presentations and acts as financial consultant on case-specific issues. - Influences underwriting best practice and provides input to matrix partners on product development and pricing - Conducts ad hoc analyses which have a potential financial impact (i.e. evaluating a change in formulary request, evaluating a change in retail network or retail arrangement requests, evaluating a change in specialty arrangement request, etc.) - Advise on contracting process and install process for renewing and new sales clients - Responsible for effectively communicating with Leadership, SAM and other business partners in the delivery of ESI opportunities to grow and manage financial results, including the preparation of strategic directed presentations. - Manage portfolio of clients to Strategic Plan and Budget targets by managing client specific rate relief - Ensure client contract compliance by reviewing and approving financial performance guarantees - Participate in department and company projects What you’ll have to be successful in this role: - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a preference for the following major and/or minors Risk Management, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Finance - 7+ years of risk and/or underwriting experience - Financial/analytical mindset - Experience in Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM), Managed Care, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical preferred - Strong interpersonal and presentation skills - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to support own position with data and rationale, while being open to possibility that it may need to be re-examined - Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives - Ability to make good and timely decisions by interpreting and applying understanding of key financial indicators - Strong motivation to persevere despite challenges - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Business acumen with leadership, innovative thinking, and customer centric mindset - Self-starter; able to work on multiple projects simultaneously - Strong ability with Microsoft Office Platforms and Proficient in SQL If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload. For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 106,700 - 177,800 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
