Role Description Professional Protector Plan seeks a Production Underwriter for a professional liability group. This can be a remote from home opportunity. This exciting role will perform the underwriting function to determine acceptability of new business and maintain integrity of underwriting practices in dealing with procedures and carrier personnel, monitor activities of support staff. - Regularly initiate contact with producers/administrators to solicit new business opportunities and promote Dental Program production goals. - Respond to and underwrite new business submissions in a timely manner. - Maintain contact with carrier underwriting personnel; advise of performance and response to identified needs. Suggest improvements in policy coverage or amendments to improve or maintain program results. - Adhere to carrier and internal underwriting guidelines and performance standards. - Review submissions or circumstances and resolve, if within authority, or refer with recommended action. - Maintain visibility in the marketplace by securing and reviewing local market information. - Occasional travel to State Administrator’s office to promote the profitable growth of the book of business may be required. - Manage profitability per PPP and carrier strategies. - Back up to Underwriters and/or Underwriting Supervisor. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Requires basic insurance understanding of property casualty and professional liability policy form and structure. - Ability to read, interpret, and verify specific procedures. - Requires effective written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of producer, administrator and internal staff. - Ability to exercise good judgment in adhering to business and personnel guidelines. - Active P&C license.
