Job Description
Founding Design Engineer
Lunon
Lunon is the world's first AI-native consulting firm. We run engagements for private equity firms and global enterprises across the full spectrum of consulting work. The work is institutional quality, delivered in a fraction of the time and cost. We believe the traditional consulting model is fundamentally broken. Firms charge $500 an hour for analysts doing work that AI can do better, faster, and more rigorously. We are building the platform that proves it, and delivering the engagements that demonstrate it. We have raised a $2M pre-seed round backed by General Catalyst, SV Angel, and top Silicon Valley names, with advisors across the world's leading PE firms and consulting practices. What you'll own As Lunon's Founding Design Engineer, your job is to make complex analytical work feel clear, fast, and inevitable. The platform you are building is where hundreds of millions of dollars in deals get analyzed and decided. Engagements are carried out end to end on it, from initial scoping through live AI-driven research and analysis, to polished reports and deliverables that clients access directly on the platform. The clients sitting on the other side expect something that matches the weight of that work, every pixel, every interaction, every data visualization has to be perfect. You will own the intersection of design and engineering, turning high-stakes financial and strategic data into interfaces that PE partners and executives actually trust. You will build the design system and frontend standards that every future engineer inherits, making every incremental feature easier to ship and more refined to use. How you'll work - Your workflow, your tools, your call. Paper, Framer, Figma, Claude Design, etc. straight into Claude Code or Cursor, whatever gets the best result fastest. - You ship it yourself. No handoffs, no waiting. - You stay on top of the best tools as they emerge and bring that to the team. This is not a design role. This is not an engineering role. It's both, and the opportunity to define the visual and interaction language of a category that does not exist yet. Must haves You are a good fit for Lunon if you are a formidable design engineer. This means you stop at nothing to accomplish your goal. We don't care much about your current skills or even what you've done before; we care that you will be able to do anything you set your mind to. You must be pragmatic. Lunon is a startup so something is always on fire. You need to know when to let little fires burn and when to break out the extinguisher. You must have strong design taste and the engineering skills to bring your ideas to life. You should be equally comfortable prototyping as you are in code. You're obsessed with craft, the micro-interaction that feels off, the visualization that could tell a clearer story, the flow that adds one too many clicks. You must be empathetic. We're building products for other people, so you need to understand how they think and why. You'll be the voice of the user in every product decision. You must be an excellent communicator. You are building interfaces that put complex analytical work in front of some of the most demanding professionals in the world. Clarity has to come naturally. Finally you must be gritty. You pick the hardest, highest-quality option regardless of the effort it takes and you push through it. Why Lunon - Early equity in a category-defining company. - Young, hungry founding team. No bureaucracy, no politics, just building. - Small team, high trust, no one looking over your shoulder. - $2,400 yearly learning and tools stipend. - Early model access through an OpenAI partnership. - Remote About the interview - 30-minute intro call with founders - Take-home design and build challenge - 30-minute portfolio review and interview with Dhruv (CEO) and Connor (CTO) - 3-5 day paid work trial

The cloud is broken: it’s wasteful, slow, awfully expensive, and burdened with legacy tech that wasn’t built for today’s workloads. At Unikraft we’re building a generational, truly millisecond-native, extremely scalable cloud platform that provides exponentially higher efficiency. Are you bored with your current job? Want to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the cloud to the absolute limit? Our team consists of some of the best systems, performance, and security geeks out there, and is backed by top investors with category leaders as our customers. We believe a focused team of exceptional people, moving fast with conviction, can rebuild the cloud from first principles and make extreme efficiency (e.g., millions of users on a few servers) available to everyone. What you’ll do and why it’s career defining This is a rare opportunity to design the developer experience for a generational cloud platform — the CLIs, SDKs, integrations, and dashboards that every user will touch the moment they meet Unikraft. As a Tooling Engineer, you won’t be bolted on to the side of the platform. You’ll be building the surface through which developers actually use it, and the glue that connects it to the ecosystems they already live in: Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub Actions, and beyond. You’ll work closely with world-class systems engineers, with direct ownership over the tools, integrations, and self-serve experiences that turn raw platform capability into something developers love. If you care deeply about craft in developer tooling, enjoy moving fluently between Go, systems-level code, and product surfaces, and want your work to have a measurable impact on a fast-growing platform, this is your role. What You’ll Own Developer Tooling & SDKs - Build and maintain developer tooling across the platform, including CLIs, TUIs, and SDKs. - Develop and improve integrations such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and GitHub Actions. - Work with APIs and integration points to make the platform feel native inside existing developer workflows. Dashboard & Self-Serve Experience - Contribute to the frontend and backend systems powering the dashboard and overall self-serve experience. - Help deploy and monitor all our external-facing services — from our website, to our dashboard, to our packaging and installation infrastructure. Platform & Prototyping - Work on lower systems-level components that directly interface with our low-level platform. - Prototype new platform capabilities such as sandboxed environments and remote builds. What We’re Looking For - Solid engineering fundamentals and the ability to contribute across backend and tooling, specifically in Go. - Interest or experience in building developer tools, CLIs, or system utilities. - Experience working with APIs and integrations. - Ability to manage complexity and adapt to a fast-moving platform. - [BONUS] Experience contributing to open source projects. - [BONUS] Experience with C or systems programming. - [BONUS] Familiarity with cloud-native tooling such as Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD systems. Why you will love this team - Elite founders, real access: Work directly with globally recognized deep tech founders who’ve spent careers at the frontier of systems and cloud research. You’ll learn more here in a year than most people do in five. - World-class product: A category-defining technology that sparks genuine excitement with developers. - Zero bureaucracy: Founder-led, product-obsessed, and deeply technical. - Fully Remote, Fully Flexible: Work from your favorite place, at your most productive times. - Retreats, Game Nights and More: Fun-focused team retreats and other events to recharge and build great relationships. - The Standard Stuff: Competitive salary, 6 weeks of vacation, development opportunities.
