ABOUT THE ROLE The Project Director, Strategic Initiatives is a proactive and solutions-oriented leader who manages complex, cross-functional initiatives that support the university’s strategic plan. The role requires an innovative thinker who anticipates challenges, identifies creative solutions, and accelerates decision-making to keep initiatives on track. The role requires knowledge of academic and operational processes in non-traditional higher education universities to bring major initiatives to go-live. The position translates executive priorities into actionable workflows, secures institutional buy-in across academic and operational units, and drives timely completion of major initiatives. This is a full-time position with an initial 2-year term.TYPE OF SUPERVISION: Receive general direction from the Provost. General Direction — indicates that the incumbent receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing the methods to attain them. Generally, the incumbent is in charge of an area of work; and typically formulates policy for this area but does not necessarily have final authority for approving policy. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Strategic Initiative Leadership & Project Management - Manage complex, institution-wide strategic initiatives requiring cross-unit coordination and accelerated timelines. - Develop comprehensive project plans, charters, timelines, workflows, and accountability structures. - Manage and coordinate leaders across academic and operational divisions, ensuring alignment of priorities, information flow, and timely decision-making. - Synthesize feedback and operational details from multiple units and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations, as appropriate. - Anticipate barriers, propose innovative solutions, and maintain momentum toward “go-live.” Cross-Functional Coordination & Institutional Alignment - Serve as a connector across university divisions, academic schools, governance bodies, and executive leadership to ensure alignment and clarity. - Facilitate cross-functional meetings and working groups, guiding leaders toward consensus and unified institutional direction. - Gather, analyze, and integrate input from unit leaders to produce concise summaries and recommended courses of action - Engage stakeholders early to secure institutional buy-in and ensure transparent communication of all decisions and timelines. Strategic Communication & Executive Decision Translation - Translate complex executive decisions into actionable, well-structured workflows for cross-functional teams. - Prepare recommendations for the Provost and other senior leaders as appropriate based on synthesized input from multiple divisions and diverse perspectives, highlighting options, impacts, and readiness considerations. - Provide concise executive-level briefings, reports, and presentations. - Maintain proactive, clear communication with all levels of the university to ensure shared understanding of timelines, deliverables, and decisions. Regulatory, Accreditation, & Non-Traditional Education Expertise - Apply, research, and rapidly learn unfamiliar regulatory or accreditation requirements as needed, ensuring accurate interpretation and integration into project plans - Ensure project plans incorporate federal regulations, accreditation standards, and governance requirements. - Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, Enrollment, Registrar, and Student Success to align compliance and operational requirements. - Translate regulatory and accreditation requirements into clear action steps for team leads and unit leaders. - Perform other duties, as assigned POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES: - 5-7 years' experience in project management or strategic operations, with increasing responsibility, preferably in higher education. - Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred in higher education, organizational leadership, or related field. - PMP Certification or similar certification preferred ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: - Demonstrated knowledge of non-traditional and online models serving working adult learners - Demonstrated knowledge of institutional planning, project lifecycles, including workflow design, timeline development, and cross-functional implementation - Strong analytical skills, with exceptional judgment and the ability to support rapid decision-making. - Excellent communication and facilitation skills able to engage stakeholders at all levels. - Strong proactive leadership skills that promote innovative problem-solving and outside-the-box thinking - Proven ability to coordinate and influence leaders at all levels across all university divisions. - Proven ability to think proactively, strategically, and creatively to overcome barriers - Proven ability to navigate ambiguous, fast-paced environments and guide teams through change. The hiring range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographical location, knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members. CJS is organized around six impact areas that reflect the Center’s deepest areas of practice and expertise, which are: Community Safety, Front-End Systems Change, People-Centered Courts, Restorative Practices, Intimate Partner Safety and Justice, and the Housing-Justice Nexus. CJS is seeking a temporary Senior Program Manager to work primarily on projects related to problem-solving courts and initiatives, and jail reduction, as well as support other projects as needed and assigned. Reporting to the Principal of CJS overseeing this area of work, the Senior Program Manager will provide targeted training and technical assistance (TTA) focused on community courts, veteran’s treatment courts, drug treatment courts, prosecutor-led diversion initiatives, pretrial supervision, procedural justice, jail reduction, and racial equity, and other areas of justice system reform. The Senior Program Manager will be expected to develop and write new publications, support grantees and jurisdictions by delivering onsite and remote TTA, develop and maintain both asynchronous and synchronous training content, and nurture partner relationships. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Lead with development of monographs, fact sheets, toolkits, guidance documents, website features, and other written products and publications, as well as online content; - Provide expert assistance to problem-solving courts and justice system partners, and community seeking to plan, implement, or enhance community, veteran, drug and other problem-solving courts, and jail reduction and other reforms; - Conduct and host site visits for a wide array of justice system stakeholders and community partners; - Manage the administration of grants by tracking progress and performance and fulfilling deliverables on time; - Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with other TTA providers, national experts, and other partners in the field; - Develop and deliver presentations at conferences and training events; and - Additional relevant tasks, as needed. Qualifications: The candidate will have either a relevant graduate degree with 4-5 years of experience, or a JD with 2-3 years of experience, or equivalent lived experience related to substance use disorder, the criminal legal system, or direct services provision. Substantive experience with TTA, problem-solving courts, pretrial reforms, and jail reduction, and the ability to work with jurisdictions seeking to enhance community safety and racial justice is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and project management skills are a must. Candidates will have the ability to work with a diverse array of partners, including community members, business owners, police, probation officers, judges, attorneys, court administrators, elected officials, social service providers, school officials, and community-based organizations. National travel may be required. Position Type: Temporary position working 35 hours per week until December 31, 2026. Position Location: Remote Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $42.58 - $62.25 per hour, annually equivalent to $77,500 - $113,300 based on a 35-hour work week and is commensurate with experience. • Set up and manage programs for one or more of Convergint’s global/enterprise accounts • Direct and support activities of multiple operation and sales teams delivering results for large, complex clients • Serve as a single point of coordination, facilitating all internal and external communications • Drive operational excellence by exceeding customer expectations in execution of projects, services, and advanced solutions • Provide leadership for Convergint teams and its partners, ensuring customer satisfaction, financial performance, and account growth • Act as a single point of coordination on individual accounts, providing regular and proactive communications • Learn the client’s business by building strong relationships with key stakeholders • Deploy standard processes and tools to achieve internal efficiencies • Ensure adherence to specific customer standards, industry best practices, and market regulations • Manage and coordinate all operational aspects of enterprise customer engagements for specific accounts • Serve as an advocate and liaison between the customer, colleagues, and partners • Deliver internal and customer facing business reviews on a consistent basis • Monitor financial performance of accounts and compile reporting to track overall business activities
