General Summary and Essential Duties & Responsibilities The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting day‑to‑day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with month‑end and year‑end close activities. This is a remote position that works closely with the accounting team and business partners to ensure financial data is accurate, timely, and compliant with company policies and applicable accounting standards. Minimal travel may be required on an as‑needed basis.
Job Requirements
- Key Responsibilities to Include:
- Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, reclassifications, and depreciation
- Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances
- Maintain supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts
- Track and report capital expenditures (CAPEX), including additions, disposals, and transfers
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset subledger, ensuring accuracy of asset capitalization, depreciation, and retirements
- Prepare periodic CAPEX reporting for management, including budget‑to‑actual analysis and project tracking
- Ensure capitalization policies are applied consistently and in accordance with GAAP
- Support preparation of financial statements and internal management reports
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams (FP&A, Operations, IT) in a remote environment
- Participate in process improvement and system enhancement initiatives
- Perform ad hoc accounting analysis and projects as they are assigned
- Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 0–3 years of accounting or related experience
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Desired Skills/Experience:
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems and accounting software
- CPA or CPA‑eligible a plus
- Experience with financial reporting and account reconciliations
