Job Requirements

  • 3-6 years of FP&A, financial analysis, or a finance-adjacent analytical role.
  • can read a P&L, understand unit economics, and explain what a number means in business terms
  • use SQL to answer financial questions
  • have built something from messy, real-world financial data
  • understand revenue recognition across at least one business model well enough to defend it to an auditor
  • know the difference between a technically correct output and a financially correct one
  • have built a cohort model from raw data
  • have worked in a multi-entity environment
  • experience with Aleph, Looker, Metabase, or a comparable FP&A or BI platform at the build level
  • have automated a reporting process that used to require manual work
  • have enough accounting literacy to spot a miscoded transaction

SUMMARY: The Senior Underwriter is responsible for underwriting small business, corporate, municipal, and non-profit credit card applications, and credit line increase requests. The role will also support consumer application underwriting as needed. The senior underwriter performs the necessary credit analysis, due diligence, and regulatory review for all credit requests with accuracy in a high-volume production environment. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - This position requires in-depth knowledge to read, analyze and interpret personal and corporate financial documents including the balance sheet, income statement, tax returns and cash flow statement. - Underwriter must have the ability to apply mathematical concepts to analyze and interpret final statements of commercial clients providing a more comprehensive picture of the company’s financial stability and their ability to repay debt. - Underwriter must be able to compare a company to the industry standard. - Underwriter must have the ability to effectively present information to the Bank’s Loan Committee and communicate with loan account officers. - Underwriter must demonstrate strong sense of logic and common-sense lending without increasing bank’s credit risk. - The position works closely with Management to establish and maintain an even workflow with constant processing turnaround times to meet service level agreements and goals. - This position provides backup for department leaders as needed. - Emphasis is placed on quality credit, lending practices, policy, and procedures, Federal and State Regulations and Client Relations. - Other duties as assigned.
