You’ll lead core elements of our monthly and quarterly close, apply ASC 606 to complex and evolving revenue models, and serve as a trusted partner across Product, Engineering, Operations, and Finance. As we transition from outsourced to in-house revenue accounting, you will build the systems, controls, documentation, and workflows that ensure Function’s financial foundation remains precise as we scale. Key Responsibilities: - Own key aspects of the monthly and quarterly revenue close, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and related reconciliations across multiple revenue streams. - Apply and operationalize ASC 606 revenue recognition policies for subscriptions, imaging services, and bundled offerings, identifying performance obligations and assessing contract modifications. - Own revenue accounting readiness for new product launches, including evaluating ASC 606 implications, regulatory considerations, and operational workflows in partnership with cross-functional teams. - Partner cross-functionally to ensure revenue data is complete, accurate, and aligned between operational systems and the general ledger. - Design, document, and implement scalable revenue accounting processes, SOPs, and internal controls as we transition from outsourced to in-house operations. - Serve as a primary point of contact for revenue-related audit requests, preparing support and confidently addressing auditor questions. - Evaluate new products and non-standard contract terms for accounting impact and provide guidance ahead of launch or deal execution. - Help shape the future structure of the revenue accounting team and contribute to building scalable, high-quality revenue accounting operations as the business grows. Qualifications / Skills: - 5-8+ years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, ideally in a high-growth or multi-product environment. - Big 4 public accounting experience is strongly preferred. - Strong technical expertise in ASC 606 with hands-on experience applying guidance to complex and evolving revenue models. - Demonstrated ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments and build processes from the ground up. - Proven ability to partner with cross-functional teams, translating business intent into accounting implications and clearly explaining accounting requirements in non-technical terms. - Excellent judgment, communication skills, and confidence proposing accounting positions and operational solutions. Great to Have: - Experience scaling revenue accounting in a high-growth, multi-product environment and leveraging data, automation, or AI-enabled tools to drive accuracy and efficiency. - Exposure to subscription-based businesses, healthcare, or technology-enabled services. - Experience implementing or improving revenue automation tools and reporting systems. To be a strong fit, you embody our Core Values: - Ruthless Prioritization: - We prioritize what drives impact. - We never compromise on standards of excellence. - Member-First, Always: - We design and deliver like we’re caring for someone we love. - We create clear, actionable, human experiences. - We prioritize responsiveness, peace of mind, and outcomes. - We empower members with truth, clarity, and care. - One Team, Moving Fast: - We are aligned in purpose, prioritization, and speed. - We gather diverse perspectives to make informed decisions. - We clear paths for each other and move fast together. - We communicate clearly and respectfully, rallying around shared goals. - Radical Ownership, Relentless Execution: - We don’t just ship—we own outcomes and drive results. - We act with urgency and precision. - We anticipate, initiate, and follow through. - We meet challenges with grit and pragmatism. - We embrace new tech to deliver better outcomes. - Mission Over Ego: - We are ruthlessly aligned to our mission—and leave ego at the door. - We disagree and commit. - We don't tolerate politics or withholding information. - We operate with honesty, transparency, and respect. - Sustained Integrity in Every Detail: - We earn trust by obsessing over accuracy, quality, and clarity in everything we do. - We prioritize clinical precision—data must be right. - We sweat the details because outcomes depend on them.
