Senior Software Development Manager

Solventum

• Provide direct technical supervision of one or more teams responsible for developing HIS products, including Developers and Quality Assurance • Assist Technical Product Owner for a team working both to deliver HIS grouping content under the existing technology stack while simultaneously architecting and developing the replacement technology stack in a methodical manner • Set technical direction and establish, prioritize and work with the development team to define and update the team’s backlog in concert with Tech Leads • Mentor development staff with duties such as analysis, software design, prototyping, coding, debugging, test case creation, test case automation, test case execution, documentation, support, infrastructure maintenance • Participate on cross-functional teams, coordinate and communicate with Product Owners, Business Leaders, Developers and others • Champion Agile principles throughout the organization • Create an atmosphere of innovation and enable professional growth • Conflict / Change management ownership to ensure productivity

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a Computer Science, Information Systems discipline or related field from an accredited university
  • Ten (10) years of software development experience
  • Three (3) year team leadership experience (supervisor, manager, team lead)
  • Two (2) years of experience leading the design and delivery of agentic AI frameworks and systems (multi-step reasoning, planning, tool use, and autonomous workflows) in production environments
  • Two (2) years of deep expertise in LLM architecture and orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, custom agents) and model routing
  • Six (6) years of strong background in building scalable distributed systems using modern backend technologies (Python/Java), microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

WEX Mobility Payment products enable credit issuance to fleet companies and their employees in the form of WEX Credit Cards, that can be used in fueling stations and select merchants. At WEX, we provide fleet managers with the ability to configure spend controls that restrict fleet members to use their card only at preconfigured merchants and for configured products families. How you’ll make an impact As a Director of Engineering, you will: - Analyze various Mobility products to outline cross-cutting and core capabilities to develop, drive and execute a long-term vision and strategy for WEX Mobility Core services - Define and implement a comprehensive architectural roadmap for Mobility Core services, aligning with business objectives and industry best practices. - Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, empowerment, and continuous learning within the engineering teams. - Continuously challenge the status quo and implement mechanisms to reduce time-to-market using efficient engineering methods. - Collaborate with other Mobility engineering teams to reuse development practices and components to reduce duplication. - Craft, lead, manage, and grow high-performance engineering teams. Hire, coach, promote, and retain high performers to achieve WEX goals. - Work closely with product and commercial partners to drive, prioritize, and work backwards from the customer requirements and exceed expected outcomes. - Drive effective monthly, weekly, and quarterly mechanisms to plan, execute, and audit workstreams. - Establish a robust and clear engineering roadmap to maintain clarity and motivation for the engineering team. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience building credit card products, or experience developing solutions in a scheme/network. - Experience building or managing fleet systems. - Experience working on card payments using ISO8583. - Experience working with geographically distributed teams, and ability to craft self-managing distributed teams. The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
