Utility Construction Inspector

Michels Corporation

• Inspecting and monitoring utility construction projects involving natural gas, electric, telecommunications, and municipal infrastructure. • Ensures all construction activities comply with safety regulations, approved plans, specifications, and applicable federal, state, local, and company standards. • Serves as a third-party representative of the utility or facility owner. • Plays a critical role in protecting public safety, infrastructure integrity, and project quality.

Job Requirements

  • Experience or knowledge in natural gas, electric, telecommunications, or municipal utility construction is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of utility safety practices, excavation standards, and damage prevention requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and utility maps.
  • Comfortable working independently in the field and navigating multiple locations daily.
  • Proficient with mobile technology and electronic reporting systems such as ArcGIS -Survey123 and/or Field Maps is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with GPS instruments such as Trimble and/or Topcon preferred, but not required.
