POSITION TITLE: Data Analyst - Insights & Strategic Enablement ORG UNIT: Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) DUTY STATION: Remote CONTRACT TYPE: CST I DURATION: 11 months LINE MANAGER/SUPERVISOR: Head of Insights & Strategic Enablement team ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency working to create a world with zero hunger. WFP and its partners believe that no child should go to bed hungry and that individual and collective wellbeing can only be achieved if all children, women and men get the nutritious food they need to lead healthy, dignified lives. Each year, WFP assists 90 million people in 83 countries. Every day, some 5,600 WFP-chartered trucks are on the road, 92 planes are in the air and 20 ships are at sea. These numbers speak to WFP’s unparalleled reputation as an emergency responder, one that is often the first on the scene in the most difficult environments. WFP also works with partners to strengthen the resilience of communities most vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition through long-term development programmes aimed at boosting food security, local economies, education, employment and gender equality. While hunger and malnutrition are the world’s largest solvable issues, the needs are still immense and growing. 821 million people in the world suffer from chronic hunger. The Private Partnerships Division (PSP) is responsible for working with the private sector to achieve greater impact in WFP’s work. WFP operates one of the fastest-growing global individual fundraising programmes in the humanitarian sector. Initially launched as a lean, digital-focused initiative, the programme has evolved into a major strategic driver of income growth, with an ambition to raise USD 1.3 billion annually by 2030. There are two teams working from HQ (Individual Giving and ShareTheMeal), and two friend organisations JAWFP and WFPUSA. The programme has transitioned from a purely digital model to a multi-channel approach. While the centralised global team continues to acquire supporters through core digital channels (Meta and Search), it is rapidly scaling additional acquisition channels such as Face-to-Face, Direct TV and Telemarketing. Supporter engagement is delivered through an integrated, multi-channel ecosystem—including email, push (App), SMS, WhatsApp, outbound telephony, and Meta—ensuring a high-quality donor experience that drives long-term engagement and impact. This high-touch model combined with the sheer volume of supporters (3.4m) means that there is a wealth of data being created which helps inform decision making from investments through to tactical execution. The role of the Business Intelligence Hub is to help harness this asset and provide timely analysis, reporting and insights to fundraisers, management and the wider organisation. PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT The data analyst will work within a team of specialists, each owning a defined analytical domain. This role will allocate roughly 50% of its time to Optimisation and Experimentation—identifying improvement opportunities through research and data analysis, and validating changes through structured A/B testing. The remaining 50% will support broader analytical, reporting, and insight projects that enable fundraising teams to make data‑driven decisions and enhance supporter engagement. Experimentation: AB Test Analysis & User Research - Design robust experimentation frameworks by defining hypotheses, success metrics, minimum detectable effects (MDE), sample sizes, and statistical power, ensuring full adherence to testing and statistical standards. Ensure tests are created that meet these criteria. - Set up, monitor, and quality‑assure A/B dashboards, ensuring data integrity throughout the experimentation lifecycle. - Analyse experiment outcomes using sound statistical methods and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations for programme optimisation. Experimentation: Test Repository & Insight Sharing - Develop and maintain a repository of user research and test results, that can queried for potential future tests and explore potential of Agentic AI to uncover undetected insights. - Collate and present results in quarterly town hall sessions. Be a champion in developing a test and learn culture. Data Analysis: Analysis & Reporting - Develop and maintain analytical services by building dashboards and reports (Tableau, SQL, Python), ensuring data accuracy, quality, and reliable performance tracking across fundraising activities. - Drive insight generation by identifying new analytical opportunities that deepen understanding of supporter behaviour. Seek to answer questions which explains why people rather than merely measuring outputs. Data Analysis: Data Science & Machine Learning - Develop and operationalise machine learning models to understand and anticipate supporter behaviours (donation likelihood, churn risk, upgrade potential, content affinity). - Advance use of AI and LLMs to uncover deeper insights from within unstructured data sources. DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF CONTRACT - Standardised A/B test reporting process that includes depositing in central repository - Advance data capabilities with regards to machine learning and data science solutions - Established workflow for the ingestion and analysis of survey responses using LLMs QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Education Previous Experience Knowledge & Skills - Educated to at least bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or an analytical related subject. - 6+ years’ experience in analysis and or experimentation. - Professional experience of working with large and complex datasets. - Theoretical and practical understanding and application of statistics. - Ability to translate business problems and opportunities into analytical projects - Advanced Python and SQL coding skills. - Experience of using BI software such as Tableau, PowerBI and Metabase - General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations, and procedures governing administration is an asset.
