• The Design Engineer (DE) shall be a member of a project engineering team responsible for completing assigned tasks within the allotted schedule and cost constraints. • The Design Engineer shall report directly to the Manager of the Engineering Department, who is responsible for managing the engineering and design schedules and supervising team members. • The Design Engineer shall be fully capable and willing to perform all tasks assigned by the Manager of the Engineering Department. • The Design Engineer shall be the single person on the Engineering and Design Team who is responsible and accountable for all aspects related to the structural and physical substation design of the project. • The engineer is expected to be knowledgeable in all aspects of substation design, including structural steel, foundations, rigid and flexible bus design, substation layout, electrical clearance and safety requirements, and equipment functions and their purpose. • The engineer assigned to perform the structural calculations on a project is expected to follow the project throughout the design process, supporting the design team and providing technical advice. • The engineer shall provide guidance, direction, instruction, and leadership to the design team pertaining to technical issues. • The main objectives for the design engineer shall be 0 Errors, 0 Missed Commitments, and efficient production.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering is preferred or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or University.
- Structural Licensure (SE) is preferred.
- Knowledge of PLS is required.
- Knowledge of substation and transmission line folded plate structure design and fabrication is required.
- Working knowledge of Staad Pro, MathCAD, Risa, L-Pile is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills are necessary.
