Job Description
Developer Relations Engineer (San Francisco)
Qdrant
About Us Powering the next generation of AI applications with advanced and high-performant vector similarity search technology. Qdrant is redefining how developers build intelligent applications. As a high-performance vector search engine, Qdrant powers contextual search, RAG systems, AI agents, multi-modal retrieval, and real-time recommendations for teams around the world. Developers rely on Qdrant Cloud, Qdrant Open Source, and our ecosystem to build fast, scalable, production-ready AI applications. About the Role As a Developer Relations Engineer, you will be the face and voice of Qdrant in the heart of the world’s most active AI ecosystem. You are part engineer, part educator, and part community builder. Your mission is to empower developers to build sophisticated AI applications using Qdrant through high-quality content, world-class demos, and authentic community engagement. We view this role as a high-velocity career accelerator. By joining us, you will: - Master the Modern AI Stack: Move beyond being a "user" of AI to becoming an expert in the underlying infrastructure (Vector Search, Rust-based performance, and RAG architecture). - Build an Elite Network: Represent Qdrant at the highest levels of the SF tech scene, collaborating with founders and engineers from LlamaIndex, CrewAI, Google DeepMind, Mistral AI, Neo4j, and more - Establish Thought Leadership: We provide the stage. You will be supported in speaking at premier conferences and publishing content that reaches hundreds of thousands of developers globally. - Shape the Product: Act as the direct link between the developer community and our core engineering team, directly influencing our roadmap and feature set. This is an individual contributor role with ~60% hands-on technical work and ~40% community, content, and speaking. Tasks - Building Demos: Develop and maintain open-source "showcase" applications. You’ll build end-to-end RAG pipelines, recommendation engines, and innovative AI search tools that demonstrate Qdrant's power. - Applied Innovation: Conduct research into emerging AI patterns (e.g., Long-context RAG, Agentic workflows) to prototype new Qdrant use cases. You will experiment with cutting-edge embedding models and indexing techniques to define the next "killer app" for vector search. - Content Creation: Produce educational resources that make complex concepts accessible. This includes writing deep-dive technical blog posts, recording video tutorials, and crafting clear, useful tutorials. - Technical Events: Lead Qdrant’s presence at hackathons and workshops, from organizing our own challenges to mentoring developers in the middle of the night as they build their MVPs. - Public Speaking: Deliver compelling presentations and live coding sessions at conferences and workshops that inspire developers to rethink what's possible with vector search. - Community & Social Engagement: Actively participate in the AI developer community on platforms like Discord, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and GitHub. Be the "first responder" to technical questions and a champion for developer needs internally. - Local Leadership: Host and participate in local and regional meetups, technical mixers, and industry conferences. You will be the primary contact for the local AI scene. Requirements - Technical Depth: You have a strong coding background in Python, Rust, JavaScript, or Go and a genuine fascination with vector search, embeddings, and LLMs. - Communication Mastery: You can explain the "how" and the "why" of technical architecture with clarity and enthusiasm, whether in writing or on stage. - Local Presence: You are already plugged into (or eager to lead) the local tech community. You thrive in the high-energy environment of the AI engineering scene. - Creative Mindset: You don't just follow tutorials; you create them. You enjoy finding creative ways to show off technical features through code and storytelling. - Autonomy & Empathy: You are a self-starter who can work independently while maintaining deep empathy for the frustrations and successes of the developers you support. Benefits - Competitive Salary - Remote-first - 401k matching - Health/vision/dental/life insurance - Generous paid leave Come work for the best vector search company on the planet and boost your career in AI!

RunwayBusiness financials got stuck in the 15th century so we're showing them today’s computers 🖥
We are building AI to simulate the world through merging art and science. We believe that world models are at the frontier of progress in artificial intelligence. Language models alone won’t solve the world’s hardest problems – robotics, disease, scientific discovery. Real progress requires models that experience the world and learn from their mistakes, the same way that humans do. And this kind of trial and error can be massively accelerated when done in simulation, rather than in the real world. World models offer the most clear path to general-purpose simulation, changing how stories are told, how scientific progress is made and how the next frontiers of humanity are reached. Our team consists of creative, open minded, caring and ambitious people who are determined to change the world. We aspire to continuously build impossible things and our ability to do so relies on building an incredible team. If you are driven to do the same, we'd love to hear from you. About the role *Open to hiring remote across North America + Europe — we also have offices in NYC, San Francisco, and Seattle We are looking for someone who lives at the intersection of code and creativity – deeply technical, genuinely plugged into the generative AI space, and excited to build the developer community around some of the most advanced video and image models. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role with real influence over how developers experience Runway. You will own the end-to-end developer experience – driving awareness, activation, and long-term engagement among the creative technologists and engineers building on top of our generative model APIs. Success in this role requires a blend of technical depth, creative sensibility, and a genuine enthusiasm for where generative AI is going. What you’ll do - Own the Developer Funnel, End-to-End - Own the full developer funnel from awareness to activation; drive adoption and engagement across our API user base with a structured, data-informed engagement strategy - Design onboarding experiences that get creative developers from zero to their first successful API build as quickly as possible - Manage the motion from self-serve to enterprise API relationships – identify high-potential developers through usage and spend signals and route them into the right engagement track - Track, analyze, and report on developer funnel metrics and API engagement using BI tools and data - Build & Energize the Creative Developer Community - Own hackathons, sponsorships, and developer events end-to-end – from concept and logistics to execution and follow-through - Build and nurture a community of creative technologists, researchers, and developers pushing the boundaries of generative video and image - Represent Runway at conferences, meetups, and online communities; be a recognizable and trusted presence in the generative AI developer ecosystem - Surface developer sentiment, emerging use cases, and market signals back to internal teams to inform product direction - Produce Content That Gets Developers Building - Produce high-quality tutorials, demos, sample repos, and technical walkthroughs that showcase what's possible with our models and API - Own social and X content strategy for the developer audience – rapid demos, creative experiments, prompting tips, and technical threads - Run regular developer communications including email newsletters, changelogs, and recurring developer office hours - Prototype creative, targeted content that meets developers where they are - Champion Developers Internally – and Runway Externally - Serve as the primary point of contact for the developer community; be genuinely accessible, responsive, and useful - Build a tight, structured feedback loop between developers and the Product and Engineering teams – surface trends, flag blockers, and advocate for developer needs - Partner with Marketing and GTM to create developer-focused activation campaigns that resonate with a technical, creative audience - Define and track success metrics tied to developer activation, API engagement, and community growth What you’ll need - 5+ years in developer relations, developer advocacy, or a highly technical, community-facing role – ideally within AI/ML, creative tech, or a research-adjacent organization - Deep, hands-on familiarity with generative video and image models; you've built with them, you experiment constantly, and you follow this space closely - Comfort operating in a 0-to-1 environment – you've built programs, communities, or developer motions from scratch and know how to create structure and momentum without a playbook to follow - Strong engineering fundamentals – you can write code, build demos independently, debug API integrations, and speak credibly with technical audiences - A genuine creative sensibility – you understand the needs of designers, filmmakers, and creative technologists, not just traditional software engineers, and you move fluidly between those worlds - Proven track record of driving developer community growth and API adoption with measurable outcomes - Experience producing developer-facing content across formats: documentation, video demos, short-form social, and live technical presentations - Experience running developer events end-to-end: hackathons, workshops, sponsorships, and office hours - Deep enthusiasm for generative AI; you stay close to the technology, build with it, and have a strong point of view on where it's going Runway strives to recruit and retain exceptional talent from diverse backgrounds while ensuring pay equity for our team. Our salary ranges are based on competitive market rates for our size, stage and industry, and salary is just one part of the overall compensation package we provide. There are many factors that go into salary determinations, including relevant experience, skill level and qualifications assessed during the interview process, and maintaining internal equity with peers on the team. The range shared below is a general expectation for the function as posted, but we are also open to considering candidates who may be more or less experienced than outlined in the job description.
