Why This Role Matters: This is a senior-level Accounts Payable Specialist role with leadership and oversight responsibilities, designed for an experienced finance professional ready to make a meaningful impact within a complex, multi-entity organization. The role is responsible for managing high-volume cash disbursements, leading, and mentoring a team of AP professionals, and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all payable’s operations. You’ll operate within a complex insurance environment spanning life insurance, annuity, property & casualty, and health lines of business, requiring a thorough understanding of industry-specific processes and regulatory requirements. This role is a key contributor to financial controls and compliance in Group 1001 and plays a critical part supporting multiple legal entities and maintaining the integrity of the organization's financial reporting and disbursement processes. How You’ll Contribute: - Manage and process high-volume AP operations across multiple entities - Lead and provide oversight of AP team members including reviewing, mentoring, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness - Oversee and execute vendor payments, ensuring accurate and timely disbursement of funds in compliance with company policies - Maintain and strengthen internal controls over cash disbursements and AP processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements - Support the monthly financial close process, including AP accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries - Manage and support internal and external audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries - Assist with 1099 reporting, vendor reviews, and year-end compliance activities - Identify and implement process improvements to enhance scalability of AP function. - Be the point person for accounts payable onboarding and integration when new legal entities are added to the holding company structure. What We’re Looking For: - 7+ years of progressive AP experience, including at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field - Experience managing high-volume invoice processing - Experience supporting multiple legal entities, preferably within insurance (life, annuity, property & casualty, and health) - Strong understanding of internal controls over disbursements and fraud prevention - Experience supporting monthly close processes including accruals and reconciliations - Experience managing or supporting internal and external audits - Proficient in Workday AP and advanced Excel skills Benefits Highlights: Employees who meet benefit eligibility guidelines and work 30 hours or more weekly, have the ability to enroll in Group 1001’s benefits package.
