• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, grants accounting, and fixed assets. • Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards. • Lead the monthly close process and ensure adherence to reporting deadlines. • Analyze financial results and variances; provide insights and recommendations to the CFO. • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including IRS and nonprofit reporting requirements. • Manage the annual audit process, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors. • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures. • Support preparation of Form 990 and other required filings in coordination with the CFO and external advisors. • Support the CFO in the annual budgeting and forecasting process. • Monitor budgets and grant expenditures to ensure compliance with donor and funding restrictions. • Oversee accounting for grants, restricted funds, and donor-designated contributions. • Supervise, mentor, and develop finance team.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
  • Experience managing audits and working with external auditors.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Prior experience in a national or multi-entity nonprofit organization.
  • Experience with grants management and restricted fund accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership and people management capabilities.
