Role: College Coach Status: Full-Time, Exempt (not eligible for overtime); Minimum 2-year commitment Start Date: July 9, 2026 Required Schedule: 5 days per week, typically Monday–Friday — 9 am–6 pm (3 days) and 11 am–8 pm (2 days). About Beyond 12 Beyond 12 is a national technology-driven nonprofit committed to ensuring all students — regardless of background — have the support they need to graduate from college and build meaningful careers. Since 2010, we’ve partnered with high schools and colleges to provide students with virtual, 1:1 coaching and access to our tech-enabled college success platform. About the Position Are you a college graduate who is passionate about lifting other students as you climb your own ladder of success? You could inspire the next generation by becoming a college coach. You will work with up to 450 college students virtually — by phone, text messaging, email, and social media — to help them navigate the beginning of their college career and, ultimately, achieve their dream of earning a degree. In your monthly calls with your students, you will use your academic and personal experiences, as well as Beyond 12's coaching curriculum, to help your students set goals, create education plans, navigate financial aid, build relationships, and manage their time effectively so they can be successful in and out of the classroom. For every student, you will track and document data about your students' progress to serve them most effectively. As a college coach, you will help our organization better understand college persistence and graduation trends. Location: Remote (work from home), but targeting candidates in the United States who are based in California, Georgia, and Illinois, with consideration for your experience as noted below. Beyond 12 is a remote organization, where all employees work from home. This role is region-specific, and candidates must reside in the region they support: - Atlanta Program: Must be based in GA - Chicago Program: Must be based in IL - Bay Area Program: Open to candidates based in California and other West Coast states (See below) We strongly value candidates with experience in the education systems most closely connected to each region: - Atlanta Program: Atlanta Public Schools; Georgia University System - Chicago Program: Chicago Public Schools - Bay Area Program: Oakland Unified School District; University of California system; California State University system; California community colleges Schedule: This position follows a 5-day workweek. For 3 days per week, coaches will work from 9am-6pm local time, and for 2 days each week, coaches will work from 11am-8pm local time. Coaches work one Saturday each month during a 9am-6pm local time shift (with 1 hour for lunch). After completing any Saturday working day, coaches will choose their own flex-day to have off the following week. About You You are passionate and excited about having an impact on the lives of college students from under-resourced backgrounds. You lead with empathy and respect and seek to understand the obstacles others face. You are comfortable with technology and value the role data plays in providing insights that help address our most intractable social challenges. You are resilient, even in the face of obstacles and setbacks. Your Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to) - Provide personalized, motivating, and actionable coaching to college students, scheduling and contacting all of your students consistently every month. - Offer college students guidance and direction in a timely manner. - On a daily basis and for every student interaction, consistently collect, record, and interpret student data. - Meet department goals for student calls, texts, and interactions as set by your manager and the department using guided, proven techniques and training, while contributing your own insights and creativity. - Participate in virtual weekly meetings to review coaching program updates, data hygiene, partner-related questions, and general updates. - Guide students to the appropriate campus resources and help them identify and overcome the obstacles that may prevent them from succeeding. - Invoke safety for students during virtual coaching interactions, actively listening and asking powerful questions that get at the core of a student’s needs. - Prepare written insights on trends that you are seeing with students to share quarterly. - Actively participate in department and organization-wide projects to support our students and operations. - Reflect Beyond 12’s Values in your role with students and colleagues: Trust, Respect, Innovation, Collaboration, Knowledge, Excellence.
Job Requirements
- Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; demonstrated leadership and achievement in academic, extracurricular, volunteer, or professional settings.
- 1-2 years of post-college professional experience, which may or may not be in the coaching field.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated prioritization and time-management skills.
- Experience with documenting and assessing data, and providing reviews or insights.
- Strong desire to learn about education technology and college student success best practices.
- Familiarity with Google Suite (ex.: Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Sheets).

- Candidates with bilingual fluency in Spanish and English are encouraged to apply, though it is not a required qualification.

Our bilingual Lead Professional Learning Specialists (Lead PLS) facilitate high-quality professional development across two complementary literacy programs (one English, one Spanish) for teachers and school leaders. Lead PLS also coach and support a cohort of approximately 20 bilingual Professional Learning Specialists (PLS) to deliver exceptional professional development throughout the year. This role is critical in ensuring high-quality PD delivery that drives shifts in teacher practice, increases effective use of Amplify products, and ultimately improves student learning outcomes.
