Overview DecisionPoint seeks a Performance Engineer to support system performance monitoring, load testing, and optimization for a secure, large-scale Department of Defense (DoD) modernization program. The Performance Engineer ensures high reliability, scalability, and responsiveness across multi-enclave cloud environments by developing, executing, and maintaining performance validation and tuning processes throughout the deployment and sustainment lifecycle. This role focuses on the measurement, analysis, and optimization of system performance across infrastructure, application, and network layers, ensuring stable and responsive user experiences across global Service components. Duties & Responsibilities The Performance Engineer will: - Design and execute performance, stress, load, and scalability tests to validate system reliability under various usage conditions. - Develop and implement benchmarking procedures and performance metrics, ensuring production readiness across IL2–IL5 environments. - Collaborate with system administrators, developers, and network engineers to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across application tiers. - Utilize automated testing and monitoring tools to capture performance data, including CPU utilization, I/O, latency, and throughput. - Conduct trend analysis and capacity forecasting to support scaling decisions and infrastructure planning. - Analyze system logs, metrics, and telemetry data to proactively identify degradation trends and recommend optimization strategies. - Contribute to the Performance Testing Report and Benchmark Metrics deliverables required during deployment and post-deployment phases. - Support continuous improvement of infrastructure and software performance through iterative tuning, caching, and resource optimization. - Provide input to architecture and deployment teams to ensure high availability, load balancing, and failover configurations meet mission uptime objectives. - Maintain performance baselines and validate results following application updates, database migrations, or major releases. - Collaborate with cybersecurity and operations teams to ensure that tuning and optimization align with DoD security and compliance standards. - Support 24/7 performance monitoring and issue response through established dashboards and alerting systems. Qualifications Clearance Requirement: - Must hold an active Secret clearance. Education: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline. Experience: - Minimum 5 years of experience in performance engineering, systems optimization, or load testing for enterprise-scale IT systems. - Experience supporting performance testing and tuning in AWS GovCloud or equivalent secure cloud environments. Technical Knowledge: - Proficiency in performance monitoring and testing tools, such as JMeter, LoadRunner, New Relic, Dynatrace, or AWS CloudWatch. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integration of performance testing in Agile or DevSecOps workflows. - Working knowledge of database performance tuning (e.g., indexing, query optimization) and application profiling. - Experience in infrastructure optimization (CPU, memory, and network configurations) and scalability planning. - Knowledge of DoD system security and performance baselining requirements, including DISA STIG and SRG compliance. - Certifications (Preferred): - AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or SysOps Administrator. - Certified Performance Testing Professional (CPTP) or equivalent. - CompTIA Security+ CE (DoD 8570/8140 compliance).
