We are looking to hire hands-on Cloud Solution Architect (CSA) to join our diverse, talented, high performance, and innovative Technical Success team within the Application Modernization and Migration focus area. The position is deeply technical and highly solution focused with unique opportunities to work on the most challenging and exciting projects within Microsoft, as well as providing an opportunity to drive feedback into core Microsoft products to help improve our platforms. CSAs are senior individual contributors who operate globally and engage directly with customers. It is a hands-on technical role spanning across design, build, and production with a focus on issue resolution to remove customer production blockers. Candidates are expected to comfortably switch from a whiteboard to the keyboard. Responsibilities A Cloud Solution Architect (CSA) within the Technical Success team focused on Application Modernization and Migration will be responsible for: • Customer success on the Microsoft Cloud platforms with a special focus on designing and helping customers build production applications and reduce technical risks. • Curate and produce high quality guidance for our internal and external communities and customers. • Providing a positive impact to the strategic direction of Microsoft Cloud engineering teams • Mentorship and development of technical delivery personnel within the Customer Success organization • Executing Application Modernization and Migrations to the cloud. • Documenting and sharing technical best practices / insights within engineering and the wider architect community. Qualifications Required/minimum qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 4+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting OR equivalent experience. Other Requirements - This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Additional or preferred qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 8+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 6+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting OR equivalent experience. - 4+ years experience working in a customer-facing role (e.g., internal and/or external). - 4+ years experience working on technical projects. - Technical Certification in Cloud (e.g., Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google, security certifications). - The ideal candidate will have a breadth of knowledge across cloud computing domains, experience on Azure, GitHub, or other public clouds, as well as expert level hands-on experience in topics from the application development technical domains below (Two or more of the following): - 3+ years contributing, managing, and/or building Open-Source Software projects and communities. - 3+ years developing reusable solution artifacts. - 3+ years of industry software engineering experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and a modern web framework (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) for building cloud applications using Infrastructure as Code languages like Bicep and Terraform. - 3+ years of industry software engineering experience with Programming languages such as C#, Java, GO, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Python, Ruby, Rust - 1+ years in architecting and developing intelligent apps utilizing AI. - Experience with source code lifecycle management using Git and DevOps tooling or other source control technologies such as Azure DevOps, GIthub, GitLab, Atlassian or others. - Experience in Linux and bash or shell scripting. - Experience of RESTful web services technologies like JSON, WebAPI, ASP.Net, and OData - Proficient programmer with software engineering experience and good debugging skills - Curious about incubating new ideas, solving problems, and building working systems - Self-motivated, proven collaborator, proficient communicator and have the ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly - Experience with: - building, deploying, and operating applications and services on cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) - containers for packaging application deployment units and interacting with container-orchestration technologies such as AKS, Kubernetes, EKS, GKS, OpenShift, and/or Cloud Foundry - application monitoring, end-to-end telemetry, and operations at-scale, preferably in a cloud environment. - running microservices and container-based workloads in production. - architectural patterns and anti-patterns for resiliency and geo-availability - application design patterns, and anti-patterns, such as MVC, CQRS, etc. - interacting with and querying databases and/or NoSQL datastores. Cloud Solution Architecture IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
