Location: RemoteDuration: 6 months, with possibility for extension Why This Role This is a high-impact role supporting a complex enterprise IBM mainframe environment. You will be responsible for the stability, performance, and ongoing evolution of a large-scale z/VM infrastructure, including Nomad z/VM tooling, in a mission-critical production setting. Key Responsibilities - Administer and support Nomad z/VM in a large IBM mainframe environment - Perform system upgrades, maintenance, patching, and configuration changes - Monitor and optimize system performance, availability, and capacity - Troubleshoot and resolve complex z/VM system-level issues - Support incident, problem, and change management processes - Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and vendor teams - Ensure adherence to security, audit, and operational standards (including RACF) - Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution - Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures Required Skills & Experience - 7–10+ years in mainframe systems programming - Strong expertise in IBM z/VM (installation, configuration, support, maintenance) - Experience with Nomad z/VM or similar mainframe management/performance tools - Solid understanding of z/Linux and virtualization concepts - Experience with SMPE, VMSES, RACF, and mainframe security practices - Strong background in performance tuning, capacity planning, and monitoring - Experience supporting high-availability enterprise production environments - Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills Preferred Experience - Large enterprise or public sector mainframe environments - Disaster recovery and business continuity processes - Automation or scripting in mainframe environments - ITIL framework experience Education - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
