• Provide legal counsel and guidance on all legal matters of the Company, including corporate general matters of U.S. entities, such as drafting board and stockholder resolutions, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and monitoring ongoing legal and financial obligations. • Draft, review, and approve the Company’s legal forms and documentation, including insurance policies, riders and add-ons, underwriting forms, claims forms, codes of conduct, and other internal and external legal documents. • Review, negotiate, and approve contracts necessary to support the Company’s operations, with particular focus on agreements involving intermediaries, reinsurers, distributors, service providers, and strategic business partners. • Represent the Company, or oversee its representation, in legal matters involving senior management, regulators, counterparties, and other stakeholders. • Liaise with, instruct, and manage outside counsel, ensuring appropriate scope, quality of work, cost control, and alignment with the Company’s legal and business strategy. • Lead the formation of new legal entities, manage corporate structuring initiatives, and oversee the Company’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks and brand protection. • Maintain and preserve corporate records, including corporate books, resolutions, minutes, and other governance documentation. • Apply strong knowledge and legal research skills in insurance-related matters in Latin America, supporting the Company’s regional operations and regulatory strategy. • Remain up to date on, and advise the Company regarding, laws and regulations affecting insurance, advertising, data protection, and tax considerations, ensuring timely communication of relevant legal developments. • Engage with regulators and respond to regulatory inquiries, audits, and information requests, coordinating internally and with external advisors as needed. • Assist in the design, implementation, and monitoring of risk management frameworks, including performing or coordinating routine legal and compliance audits. • Collaborate with internal teams in the claims process, providing legal oversight and support as required to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.

Job Requirements

  • Attorney licensed to practice law in the United States preferred with experience in Latin America or JD equivalent qualification to practice law in a country of Latin America. LLM in a U.S. law school preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant insurance legal experience.
  • Fluency in English & Spanish (verbal and written) required. Portuguese fluency in addition is a plus.
  • Successful experience working with a high-growth or scale up company is a plus.
  • General experience working in an international and multicultural working environment with geographically dispersed team members.
  • Highly motivated, efficient, and organized willing to work as a team and working independently.
