Build a Safer World. TRM Labs provides blockchain analytics and AI solutions to help law enforcement and national security agencies, financial institutions, and cryptocurrency businesses detect, investigate, and disrupt crypto-related fraud and financial crime. TRM’s blockchain intelligence and AI platforms include solutions to trace the source and destination of funds, identify illicit activity, build cases, and construct an operating picture of threats. TRM is trusted by leading agencies and businesses worldwide who rely on TRM to enable a safer, more secure world for all. We’re looking for a Full Stack Data Scientist to join our Knowledge Layer team, a group focused on extracting, structuring, and analyzing knowledge from large-scale, unstructured data. This team sits at the intersection of knowledge graphs, entity resolution, graph extraction, and graph analytics, and plays a critical role in powering TRM’s core intelligence products. While the team has strong backend and graph engineering expertise, we are looking for someone to be the machine learning and data science voice in the room — bringing practical ML expertise, especially in knowledge extraction and graph-based ML, to help accelerate and scale our capabilities. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys operating end-to-end: from model selection and experimentation, to productionizing ML systems and APIs. The impact you will have: - Design, build, and productionize machine learning models focused on: - Knowledge extraction from unstructured data (e.g., NER, entity linking) - Graph-based learning and inference - Entity resolution and relationship discovery - Evaluate and leverage existing ML models and frameworks to solve real-world problems efficiently - Partner closely with backend and graph engineers to integrate ML models into production services and APIs - Contribute to the design and evolution of knowledge graphs and ontologies - Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to inform modeling decisions and system design - Own ML components end-to-end, including experimentation, evaluation, deployment, and iteration - Help shape best practices for applied ML within the Knowledge Layer team What we’re looking for: - 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning engineering, or applied ML - Strong programming experience in Python - Hands-on experience building, training, or deploying machine learning models in production - Familiarity with NLP or information extraction techniques, such as Named Entity Recognition (NER), text classification, or embedding-based approaches - Experience or strong interest in knowledge graphs, graph data, or graph-based ML - Solid software engineering fundamentals, including building and maintaining APIs or services - Ability to translate ambiguous problem spaces into practical ML solutions - Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with engineers across disciplines Life at TRM We are building a safer world. That promise shows up in how we work every day. TRM moves quickly. We are a high velocity, high ownership team that expects clarity, follow-through, and impact. People who thrive here are energized by hard problems, experimentation, and continuous feedback. If something takes months elsewhere, it will ship here in days. Our work sits at the intersection of AI, national security, and fighting financial crime. The problems are complex, the stakes are real, and the environment evolves quickly. The pace and intensity of the work reflect the importance of the mission. As a result, the way we operate requires a high level of ownership, adaptability, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. At TRM, you should expect: - Priorities and targets to change quickly as we experiment and iterate - Work that often requires operating with a high degree of ambiguity - A high level of personal ownership and accountability - Close collaboration across teams and functions - Frequent, high-touch communication - Creative problem solving and out-of-the-box thinking - A pace that rewards urgency, adaptability, and outcomes This environment is energizing for people who enjoy building, solving hard problems, and making progress in situations that are not always fully defined. It also requires comfort navigating ambiguity, adjusting course as new information emerges, and maintaining focus and positivity in a fast-moving and intense environment. We also recognize that this style of operating is not for everyone. If you are primarily optimizing for predictability or a consistently balanced workload, we encourage you to use the interview process to pressure test whether this environment is truly the right fit. We want teammates who thrive here, not just survive here. At the same time, many people find this work deeply rewarding. If you are excited by meaningful problems, motivated by ambitious goals, and energized by working alongside mission-driven colleagues, there is a good chance you will find TRM to be an exceptional place to grow and contribute. Build a Safer World. We’re hiring a Senior Data Scientist, Product Analytics to support our Product Analytics function at TRM. You’ll play a foundational role in shaping how we use data to drive product decisions. TRM’s product surface and customer base have scaled significantly in recent quarters — and with that growth comes complexity. We need sharper insight loops to confidently answer: Did this feature work? Should we double down or pivot? Where are we leaving value on the table? This role exists to close that gap. You'll be the bridge between what we build and why it works — combining causal inference, business context, and data storytelling to uncover what drives impact. Your work will shape the product roadmap, define how success is measured, and help ensure we’re building the right things for the right users. The impact you will have: - Experimentation & Causal Analysis — Design, launch, and analyze controlled experiments (feature flags, quasi‑experiments) to validate product bets; deliver statistically robust recommendations that directly influence ship/iterate/kill decisions. - Insight Generation & Roadmap Influence — Translate complex product & customer data into crisp narratives that reshape priorities and unlock ARR or risk‑reduction upside. - KPI Framework & Dashboard Ownership — Define north‑star and supporting metrics, build data models & dashboards, and ensure leadership consumes a single source of truth for product health. - Data Quality & Instrumentation Governance — Partner with R&D to spec, QA, and monitor event tracking; author tests and anomaly alerts so teams trust the numbers. What we’re looking for: - Ownership Mindset — Proactively improves instrumentation, ensures reliable data pipelines, and closes the loop between product changes and insights. - Experiment Design & Statistical Methods — Skilled in designing robust experiments and deriving meaningful causal inferences that influence product direction. - Advanced SQL Modeling — Writes modular, tested SQL models that power dashboards and experimentation frameworks; contributes to codebase via GitHub. - Data Storytelling & Stakeholder Influence — Builds compelling narratives that connect user behavior to business outcomes; adjusts depth and format for execs vs. ICs. About the Team: We are a small but foundational function — currently a team of 2 — with direct access to senior decision-makers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-autonomy environments and wants to shape how analytics is done at a fast-scaling company. The team operates with high trust, close cross-functional collaboration, and a deep investment in product thinking. We default to async communication but prioritize fast iteration and clarity. Weekly standups with Product and R&D ensure close alignment with product launches and prioritization. Operating Rhythm: - This is a US-based role. - Expect ~4 hours of overlap with PST working hours. Learn about TRM Speed in this position: - Able to extract insights for every product release within 72 hours of launch. - Influences quarterly roadmap priorities through data-backed insights. - Drives velocity of experiment volume — aims for experiments on all net-new product functionality.
