Role Description The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing optimal LAN and WAN networks comprising of routers, switches, firewalls, and load-balancers. Key responsibilities include: - Providing design and architecture support to networks in data centers, corporate offices, and third-party co-location PoP sites. - Managing Data Center & Cloud Networks products and solutions, including the design, low-level engineering, and delivery of new hardware systems for Marriott applications. - Approving and overseeing projects to implement and maintain services while meeting deadlines. - Managing vendors to meet obligations for engineering design, network implementation, and technical support service delivery. - Continuously improving operations processes and developing best practices for innovative Data Center & Cloud Networks solutions. - Contributing input to help manage project schedules, risks, and costs. - Training and/or mentoring other team members and peers as appropriate. - Establishing cross-team relationships across Marriott to help define services and meet service level requirements. - Serving as an escalation point to resolve service delivery and operational issues. - Identifying opportunities to enhance the service delivery processes. - Following all defined standards and processes (e.g. IT Governance, SM&G, and Architecture). - Providing input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed. - Maintaining a proper balance between business and operational risk. - Following the defined project management and/or standards and processes. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or a closely related field. - 7 years of progressively responsible professional network engineering or development experience. Requirements - 5 years of experience in an IT infrastructure lead role including areas of routing protocols, switch fabric technology, firewall security, and load-balancing architecture. - 5 years of experience with network routing protocols (BGP), subnetting, network ARPs, and traceroute. - 4 years of experience with Palo Alto and Check Point firewalls. - 4 years of experience with AWS networking services (VPC, Direct Connect, Route 53, Transit Gateway, etc.) and Azure networking services (Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, DNS, etc.). - 4 years of experience in technical writing and delivering written documents pertaining to network solutions and diagrams. - 4 years of experience managing hospitality environment network architecture including routing and security to property management systems. - Any combination of education, training, and/or experience that has been evaluated to be the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor’s degree will be accepted.
